Can't wait to see the Wolfhunter on the field again. He's a special player. With competent coaches and a new defense I'm convinced we will see the 2018 version of him again.

That's good. But I'll be waiting till the hitting begins to drop my worry on how he'll do at least short term. If he can get by the 2020 season issue free then I'll be happy

I agree. It's always a good prognosis until he starts hitting again. Despite the rosy comments to the public, there are some private concerns about the long-term prognosis.

LVE wont admit if the prognosis is poor. Any good agent, looking after his clients interests, will always advise a player to be optimistic........until his yearly salary is guaranteed by making the opening week 53 man roster.

Sounds like this was a procedure needed for a while. I don’t blame him for putting it off as long as he can. The way he acted it was something he had been dealing with. Once you start getting things fused it can cause a domino effect. But he also has the best surgeons. Let’s not worry yet. He is young.

Another player that was the "Wolfhunter" way before he should have been anything but a competent LB. Amazing what a not serious about football culture can do to a talented young player. His drop off from 2018 to 2019 was scary. Personally, I think Dallas needs to rebuild their LB corp from scratch. More meat eaters and less flashy. Not sold on LVE yet.

Here's an article detailing some specifics and the long term medical prognosis.

https://www.bloggingtheboys.com/201...term-prognosis-for-leighton-vander-eschs-neck

He needs to have a long heart to heart with his family... looks like this current surgery could get him back to 100% on the field again— BUT another injury that requires surgery puts him at huge risk for an injury to his spinal cord— which is just simply not worth it

I hope he stays healthy— but his condition is a serious one for sure— and he is playing one of the highest risk positions for neck injuries.

On the surface- LBer looks good— but IMO, we need to draft some young talent there in April and have a plan in place to replace LVE should he get hurt and Jaylon if he can’t get back to playing consistently.

This is great news if its 100% the truth. Dont always trust what this front office says.

What would the Cowboys have to gain by lying about this?

LVE wont admit if the prognosis is poor. Any good agent, looking after his clients interests, will always advise a player to be optimistic........until his yearly salary is guaranteed by making the opening week 53 man roster.

That's true, but I would be willing to bet the Cowboy team doctors are talking to LVE's doctors.

Going to keep my fingers crossed for LVE fully recovering and being able to have a healthy longterm career for the Cowboys, but I can't help but feel a bit cautiously uncertain since it's concerning his neck/spine area that definitely takes a lot of pounding when making a hit/tackle as a pro LB.

Pray LVE is able to continue his career for many years with the Cowboys, because if he suddenly can't, that quite possibly could mean a major and super costly waste of three 1st round draft picks in a row recently for the Cowboys if for some reason the Cowboys lose Amari to free agency.
