Honestly, I’m a little disturbed at how much venom some of you have in response to this.

He’s trying to make a positive message. To use his platform to encourage positive, responsible behavior from his teammates. To hold themselves and each other accountable to their wives and families.

In a culture that supports, praises and applauds bad behavior from athletes, and a media that builds up in the hopes of tearing down, this is our reaction to a positive message?

He says he wants to “break out of the athlete box” but here in this thread people are making post after post trying to stuff him back in saying “who gives a damn about you and your teammates having a family dinner instead of popping bottles at the strip club? Shut up and get some sacks”

ever think that this is what leadership looks like at the unit level? Players putting each other in check.

how is that a bad thing? How could that do anything but help our team?

being a young black man comes with unique challenges that many of the old white dudes on this board, myself included, simply can’t understand.

To ridicule such a positive message, one intended to set an example for kids who many not have a lot of positive role models around is straight up sorry.

I understand his point. Black athletes, in particular, are often stereotyped as just athletes.

In his case, though, most of us fans think Dlaw succeeds from smarts and excellent technique. I've never considered DLaw an athletic freak or anything.
His smarts and ability to learn technique and whatnot is probably what makes his mindset.

I've always advocated that his mastery of technique makes his game age well.

You are imprinting quite a bit of your own ideas into this whole thing.

Quite illuminating.

he put himself into THAT box. NOT THE FANS. He sorta boxed himself in with the hotboyz stupidity. Now he wants to blame the fans. THAT IS VERY RICH.

Tank was overly vocal about getting paid. He refused to get surgery. And we rewarded that with a record Cowboys contract.

Tank is a complete clown.

You’re going to have to help me understand the point you’re trying to make. What the hell is “imprinting” supposed to mean in this context?

like when baby ducks imprint on the first thing they see?

In any event, respond to the comment with an opinion one way or the other ... or not

Must be a pretty tight brotherhood when he was willing to sacrifice the overall good of the team and his fellow d lineman in the name of the almighty dollar sign. I still can’t believe I ever supported Tank and Jaylon, two of my biggest player regrets as a Cowboys fan and it only took them a year.

Add in Chido and Zeke and you have the Mt Rushmore of current Cowboys morons.

I like your ultimatum.
What's up with that?
Ha!

"To use his platform to encourage positive, responsible behavior from his teammates. To hold themselves and each other accountable to their wives and families."
Nice thought of yours. Wives and families?
He's been tweeting about his teammates having responsible behavior?

He's done that? He's said those specific things in the context of HotBoyz?

How long before MM goes to Jerrah and Junya and tells them to trade this clown? I say about 3 games into the season...maybe sooner. He is immature and has a victim mentality. Welcome to 2020 I guess.

Applauding something that is so plainly a positive message should be easy for all of us to “buy”.

At the very least, is to too much to ask people to not just squat and take a dump on it?

People should try harder to support the positive and good instead of being so cynical and jaded

I encourage everyone who finds themselves growing more and more cynical to be mindful of how it erodes our opportunity for joy

If being a Hotboy means no off field issues that can lead to suspensions it seems like something that can Tank should promote.

Encourage a lifestyle that means handling business on and off the field.

lifestyle? FOOTBALL IS HIS LIFESTYLE and if it isn't, THAT is a big issue. Selling his stupid shirts and calling it a brotherhood is a flimsy excuse. For what he is being paid, he should be all football all the time. ITS ABOUT RESULTS.
