In my case, I had a bump on my nose..the bridge of my nose, that would never stop bleeding. I thought it was a bug bite or pimple. It was small. Would never heal. So YES, it was a routine family doctor check up when he noticed it(my doc) and said..Mr. so and so...that looks like cancer and I need to send you for a biopsy at a skin specialist. SO when I went, it was confirmed as basal cell carcinoma. They did the removal and each layer kept coming back as cancer...FINALLY when they got very close to my nose cartilage and nose bone, they found no cancer cells. THANK GOD. Because had it grown down into my nose bone or cartilage, THAT would have been very bad, potentially. I still get check ups yearly...and so far..no cancer. I worry every day when I see a weird growth on my body lol..because I am high risk. Moral of the story, GET CHECKED.
