I would gladly take 2 first rounders for him. Use them and move up to get a qb in the draft. And I like Dak but not at the price he is asking for (or his agent is). I heard on the radio that the Pats are willing to give Brady 30 million a year and that guy has won 6 SB and been to 9 of them. Dak should be getting a little more than Wentz and a little less than Goff.
We all know no one will give even one 1st, that' where this gets almost funny. You want to hold out? Okay...oh no, we could've gone 8-8? Move on and even have him back if he improves but his agents didn't plan on people calling out Prescott for whatever reason..he led almost the league in comeback stats lol, good luck with that. Yeah, we caught on...

Cowboys better have a backup plan at QB

Prescott, unlike some fans knows if he sits and does not sign the franchise offer he'll have to sit until he accepts a long term contract and no team can negotiate with him. After the season the Cowboys can again offer the franchise tag and he can sit out another year but that isn't very smart play for a QB. If he does sign the franchise offer and then sits outs the season at the end of the season the Cowboys would again be able to offer the franchise tag again. If he does sign the tag offer and come back before week 10 so he gets a crewed season he would be playing on the tag offer but all of the fines from all mandatory practices will get deducted. Prescott, actually his agent has talked Prescott into believing he has all the cards to play but the only one that going to get hurt here is Prescott. Prescott is the one that stands to lose a lot of money.

Great news. Even if we don't draft a QB in the 1st this allows M&M to evaluate Dak first hand without being strapped to his long term contract. The real decision will be made draft time 2021.

The Cowboys tagged DLaw last year before giving him an extension. Don't be surprised when it happens with Dak this year. Jerry will cave again.

I don't find this surprising. Last year was supposed to be a "show me" year for Dak, but the Cowboys failed miserably with respect to expectations, a major reason due to coaching ineptitude. I think this new season will take on that role again for him, except this time the organization expects the same as last year with legitimate coaching in place. I think last year's poor result muddled the decision making process as it comes to him. I won't be surprised if the Cowboys draft a QB high, in the second round or so.
Dak is a franchise QB? lol....
Exactly, Dak being a franchise QB is TBD this upcoming season. He's an ascending QB that hasn't demonstrated franchise QB proficiency yet.

There will be other teams interested for sure..this is going to get ugly and disrupt all of next season unless something is done

It won't matter if any team is interested in Prescott because if a long term contract isn't gotten my March 6, the Cowboys will issue a exclusive franchise tag and NO team can then negotiate with Prescott.

They're so confident in Prescott that they won't give the young "great" QB the contract he wants. Yet, they gave an aging and injury prone Romo a contract.

This says a lot more than any of the babble that comes out of Jerry and Stephen. They aren't confident in what they have in Prescott.
Romo took about 3 mil less per year than the original number

Agreed . Wilson elevates the players around him , i don't see it in Dak . Maybe im wrong ?
What is Russel elevating though?
i've seen rusell wilson play on tv , he is elite IMO .
Russ is a top 3 quarterback in the league to me. Not questioning if he’s elite. I’m not judging quarterback based on how they “elevate” someone because that’s impossible to gauge. These are all talented players. He tried to gauge Russ elevating Doug Baldwin because he was a undraftd pick. Russ elevates the Paul Richardson’s of the world. Not Baldwin.

So are there any Prescott fans who have soured on him because of these negotiations?

Which side is more likely to be unreasonable? You'd be hard pressed to say the Cowboys.

I’ve been in favor of using the franchise tag on Dak because I’d like to see his performance under the new coaching staff before committing to him long term. If he won’t sign the tag, holds out and isn’t part of the offseason program then he can go kick rocks for all I care.

I think he’s a good football player, but if he’s the starting QB for about 20 other teams he is NOT the Chunky Soup, Oikos yogurt, SleepNumber bed and Pepsi endorsee. He isn’t elite and I think he needs to remember which side his bread is buttered on, so to speak.

This offseason is more important than most because of the coaching change and the new components of the offense being installed and Dak knows it. If the franchise tag happens and he turns his back on team goals because he wants his long-term deal then I’m done with him.

I don't understand. If Dallas chooses to tag him twice. He has no choice but to play on it..

Sure, he can stay home. That won't happen

Why would you tag a player that doesn't want to play for you? That's a waste of money. They would just let him test the market.

I think when McCarthy met with Jerry Jones, they discussed EVERYTHING, but particularly, the quarterback situation. I think they all know what they have in Dak - whether bus driver or franchise. And they're just letting the game play itself out.
I, personally, believe that the Jones aren't solid on Dak. If so, he would have been signed by now. I don't know if McCarthy is sold on Dak, but he wants to see what he can do with him for one season.
Furthermore, I would not be surprised to see the Cowboys take a quarterback in the first three rounds. That's my prediction. And if Tua or Herbert miraculously drop to 17, it would not surprise me in the least if they took either. McCarthy has worked enough around Aaron Rodgers and with the WCO to know he's going to need a starting quarterback able to run his system and a backup quarterback who can take over if the starter goes down.
McCarthy doesn't have to win now. As long as he puts his plan in motion like Andy Reid did. KC jumped from #27 to #10 to grab Mahomes, giving up, essentially, only a 1st and a 3rd, let Mahomes sit for a year and then, walla, the Chiefs will be perennial contenders for the next 10 years.
I believe McCarthy has a similar plan in mind. Everyone else is watching for DT and safeties. I'm watching the quarterback position because I think that's the key spot and that's where the action is going to be focused. I don't think McCarthy wants to mess this job up. So he's going to take care of that position and determine what he has at quarterback THIS YEAR!
If the Jones’s wasn’t sold on Dak they wouldn’t have invested so much in him. They would’ve drafted his replacement by now and they surely wouldn’t waste 33 million on him in a franchise tag. They don’t bring Kellen Moore back.

You think it’s McCarthys decision on who plays quarterback for the Dallas Cowboys lol?
Well no lol. Dak is top 10-12. I think Dak has value in this league and wouldn't mind to seem him next year under some pressure tbh. How can he throw dimes but also not attempt the same pass til late? Feels like he's a little too aware of his situation sometimes. Make a mistake and go for the jugular

What have they invested in him?
The mark of investment is paying him top dollars. You don't let a franchise quarterback flounder like the Commanders did with Kirk Cousins.
Teams that identify their franchise quarterbacks pay them. If the Joneses felt Dak meant as much to them as Wentz does to the Eagles and Goff does to the Rams, they would have paid Dak by now, just as the Eagles and Rams have already paid their franchise quarterbacks.
The other moves are a result of being uncertain. I didn't say they wanted to jettison Dak immediately. I said they weren't sold on him. The other moves were an attempt to try to be "sold" on him by building the perfect team for him. But, remember, that perfect team will be available for another quarterback too.
No, value is measured in payment. And Dak still hasn't been paid.
