Is Michael Gallup the best WR from his draft class?

You mean Denver's Courtland Sutton (SMU Mustang's own) isn't in the WR class discussion ?

Especially since it was rumored at draft time that if Sutton had still been on the availability board in the 2nd round, Cowboys were prepared to nab him.
Turns out Denver was the ones that snagged Sutton, and coincidentally another prospect the Cowboys coveted, and thought he'd be gone by their pick, ended up
sliding down enough to where team had a shot at him, and nabbed Conner Williams OG from Texas.
Most definitely

I think Moore and Sutton are pretty far ahead of Gallup right now, because they're already their team's #1s AND have good numbers despite poor QB play.

Ridley was never athletic enough to be in the first round, idk why everyone was so obsessed with him.

Both are #1 WRs on their teams by necessity. Both would be #2 WRs if Amari Cooper was there.

Yes.

He has too many cases of dropsies which kill drives, but if you're asking ME....I want 13 to be #1 immediately, draft someone in Rd 2/3 in April, and spend Coopers money on a premier defensive player.

This team needs to play better defense more than it needs to keep status quo on offense...it wasnt all that great when it needed to be.

Maybe they can sign Cooper for 9m a year instead of 18 and have him just dress for home games, which is essentially all he does anyway. Maybe he will agree on the reasoning that he doesnt want to "cause a ruckus."

I just dont like the guy and what he is about.

So yeah... Gallup is the best WR in his class and the best one under contract on this team.....and someone we are gonna LOSE if they sign Cooper. Let him lose and not care elsewhere.

Sure. I'm not saying they're ahead of Gallup b/c of where they are on the depth chart. It's the fact that they outproduced Gallup without the benefit of another WR drawing attention.

DJ Moore had similar yards to Gallup with fewer TDs but more receptions and targets. Not sure how that is outproducing him in 2019.

Courtland Sutton has been slightly better to this point.

Slightly? Love Gallup and think his best is yet to come but from my understanding, Courtland is the Broncos No.1 WR. If I remember correctly, the Cowboys were pretty high on this kid also.

More yards and receptions is, by definition, outproducing.

But you're ignoring the fact that Moore and Sutton don't have the advantage of exploiting double teams for another receiver. Even if they're close, it goes their way.

Let Amari walk and Gallup gets 850 yds as a #1. He is a great complimentary WR but he is not going to create separation if he's the primary receiver drawing attention. True #1s have that skill whether it is obscene quickness in his cuts and breaks (Antonio Brown) or unbelievable size:speed ratio (Julio). Amari has the traits of a #1 with his route running and speed while Gallup would have to develop that trait. Love him as a Cowboy but gotta be realistic here.

60 yards and 2 fewer TDs are not out producing him by any sane definition.

More yards and more catches is literally the definition of outproducing for a WR. I don't care if it's 1 yard or 1000. Touchdowns isn't any sort of metric you can use for that, b/c it depends entirely on system. but gallup had more than double the number of drops than Moore, so call it a wash.

And again the specific numbers do not matter. Moore is doing it as a #1, which is more difficult than as a #2, and had atrocious QB play all year.

I'm not even sure what the argument is supposed to be. Gallup had slightly fewer yards and catches so he's better?

I thought DJ Moore was the best WR that draft, and I'm pleasantly surprised and content with Gallup. Really like #13.

I wanted dj moore or rashaan evans over LVE.

I admitted I was coveting DJ Moore or Calvin Ridley than LVE.
But I have no qualms or regrets about wolf hunter as I've seen him at his best and healthiest and he has pro bowl caliber abilities.

despite a down and injury riddled year in 2019, if he dispels injury concerns, gets much better support cast and coaches around him, hes still one I can get very excited about him as an impact player.
He can be a game changing difference maker.

I know we’re Cowboys fans so we will probably have a bias but if you’re picking between Gallup, Ridley, and DJ Moore I think you have to go Gallup, right?

Gallup also had 1100 yards receiving while missing some time as well.

Could he get by as a #1 WR in an offense at this point? Probably.. Maybe not for Dallas because we need so many weapons around the QB but for most teams he could probably do it.

In McCartys west coast offense Gallup could be a #1. Hopefully we can have 2 #1s and get Cooper signed soon

And if it doesn't pan out I still have the name Vander Trash copyrighted

Im glad we drafted Gallup, but Sutton and Chark are very solid as well.
Getting Gallup in the 3rd was the steal of our draft.

DJ Clarke exceeded my expectations and he did with questionable quarterbacking too.

I thought he'd end up being a Bryce butler type as a tall fast wideout who can over the top but body catches and the ball has to perfectly placed in his hands to cradle vs a wide out who attacks ball at its highest point and makes catches even with defenders hanging over his back.

No.2 WRs tend to wear down as game goes on and some may flash only in a couple plays per game vs legit no.1 featured who compete show up vs top competition, consistently brings it game long, and several games on,and they dictate how teams coverages have to play
him,imo.

Haven’t read through the thread but I’m pretty sure the overall take is:

“Gallup is the awesomest and everyone else sux.”

That went well at Chi and at Phil.

The guy was completely taken away.

The rap on him before he came here was he didnt care about football passionately. I've seen nothing but evidence to support that.

850 yards from your top WR may be fine.

Someone will make up that difference somehow.

This isnt fantasy football.

And, mind you, as off topic as it was....was beating on Cooper moreso than boosting Gallup.

I didn't say to not add others. I just dont want 18m devoted to Cooper. He doesnt care if he wins or not. That typically doesnt get better after getting paid.
