So is dak’s management looking at the zeke and tank deals and how they handle it and planning to do the same. Will we see the front office standing their ground this time and pushing back.

zeke you could say was the best rb in the league.
Lawrence you could make a case for top 3 at his position.
But dak? Not close at this point. And to want $40 million. $5 million more per year than any other qb is ridiculous.

Dlaw top 3?

So the holdout didn't effect his play (not saying it did or should or a good thing...just "the power of accurate observation" (oh my GAWD....you're crazy! )
Did Garret's offense have any effect on the effectiveness of Zeke? Using your "power of accurate observation" of course.

So players NEVER ever EVER "slump", then have a GREAT year or two or three? Using your "power of accurate observation", of course.

Using ONE year of the contract, in what certainly were tumultuous times, to determine the entire value of the contract? Emotional over-reaction.

Maybe Cooper Rush will turn into Johnny Unitas. It's not like such a thing NEVER EVER happened before. A grocery bagger turned into a HOF QB, after all.

But that's not the way to bet.

People who aren't hysterical bet on the play observed and the trends in that play. A full year of year, w/o injuries.

DLaw's "slump": Last 8 games, half a season, DLaw has 0.5 sacks and 6 QB hits. That's *after* a half season to get into playing shape. He was better in the first half of the season. He has massively faded in the back half of the last 2017 and 2019 seasons. Was a non-factor in the playoffs. Ironically, his only playoff sacks came in his rookie season. In 3 playoff games since, 0 sacks, 1 QB hit.

I think the holdout did affect Zeke's play, and he improved as the season went on. Not up to the contract, not up to 2016, but playing well. He and the whole offense were hurt by game plan. We'd run too much when throwing was working and throw too much when running was working.

The trend for Zeke's career is an arrow pointing down. Not straight down. A glide plath. His first year was by far his best. He's had a lot of carries, RBs generally don't last that long, and Zeke already plays with less explosion than his rookie year.

I would say Aikman was because he had some Super Bowl victories under his belt. Even then, I would bet if this board was around then you would have had people that complained about it. Did Aikman ever play under the cap rules?

Romo, I seem to remember quite a bit of talk about his contract. Lots of negativity about it.
Yes from 1993 to 2000 Aikman played under the cap and people did complain about his salary because he was beat up(the concussions), needed to carry the offense more and play declined in the playoffs after 1995. He took his fair share of blame for the offensive woes from 1996-1999 when better management would have had us rightfully contending with everyone else. It's just the internet isn't like it is today and there's probably a few RSS feeds of message boards from that time period were troy's pedestrian numbers got scrutinized.

The upside of Rush is Matt Cassell. Not possible for him to be the next Johnny U.

If you had seen Kurt Warner bagging groceries at Quick-E-Mart, think you would have given him an upside to the HOF?

And you shouldn't have, even though it turned out that way.

I was responding to a NEVER EVER claim. It doesn't NEVER EVER happen that a grocery bagger becomes and NFL HOF QB. Happened once. My point was how that's not the way to bet. Just as I wouldn't bet on Rush becoming Unitas.

It's not quite so bad a bet that Zeke or DLaw live up to their contracts, but smart money would bet that too.
