Some days, I can only take so much of the meaningless hand-wringing that goes on here:

"Let's sign this guy who just got cut!"

"Let's trade our first round pick for the next 4 years for some QB I only learned existed last month!"

I suppose some of you are young, but the old timers should know better. I fully expect to go to my grave waiting for the Cowboys to win another Super Bowl. Blow smoke up your backside if it makes you feel better, but the 3 SBs in the 90s were all about Jimmy. It's not an accident that Jerry and his son haven't been able to sniff another in a quarter century - do you need another 25 years to accept reality?

Sign Dak! Don't sign Dak!

I'll do you one better - it doesn't matter. The Cowboys brain trust isn't smart enough to build a champion, with or without Dak. The sooner you accept it the less frustrated you'll be when the inevitable happens next season, and the next, and the next...

I resigned myself to making the playoffs being our ceiling years ago but then you get these little glimmers of hope like Dak and Zeke in their rookie years with the leagues best Oline Ok the coaching staff and defense still sucked but it was a fun year watching the rookies overachieve
Great having a true power running game and a QB who protected the ball and could get up after being tackled .

But then of course reality set in as the league got tape on our new found success and our coaching staff was not up to the task to make the best use of our talent . along with Zeke missing games

Now we have a real NFL coaching staff handcuffed with having to pay everybody this year so they will not have as much talent to work with as previous years . 3 steps forward and 2 back with Jerrys dysfunctional team building methods keep us old guys prepared for the inevitable but not without hope for a miracle .

hey it will just be a pleasant change not to see Garrett mindlessly clapping on our sideline with no clue how to out coach an opponent and finish off a game .

Interesting!...I've been waiting for that "magical" SB win also! I guess I'll just force myself to live long enough to see and enjoy it...lol! As for Jerry...I agree that Jimmy was the main contributor to those SBs...Beyond a doubt!...But JJ did hire Jimmy in the first place, and I'll give him credit for that.. It's been a long drought, so hopefully he hired another winner...eh?:star:

We have a better coaching staff with a ton of experience and I’m really looking forward to the result of a marriage between McCarthy’s and Moore’s offensive minds. I think the net result is going to be a really diverse and rich system that will be among the best units in the league. I’m excited to see what they’ll do with Zeke and Pollard schematically and I’m very happy about the return to a zone blocking scheme. Both RB’s are good with zone blocking.

The defense underachieved so much last year that I think it’ll improve no matter what. It should have been much better last year. I feel like the draft will be primarily a defensive draft and I expect some better than average free agent pickups on that side of the ball. With a little creativity from the defensive coaches, I think the defense will be much better than 2019’s version.

The special teams went from the worst coach to maybe the best. They shouldn’t help lose games anymore.

Speaking for myself... I’m excited as hell about this upcoming season. Am I expecting a Super Bowl? Of course not. However, I do think the team will compete for a playoff spot and will improve over time as the new coaches settle in.

McCarthy truly is a really good coach and a very bright offensive mind. I like the staff and think the coaching change will do the entire franchise a lot of good.

I’m really looking forward to 2020.

Having said all of that, there are some really crazy ideas for unrealistic trades and outlandish moves that people unfortunately come up with. I don’t think they are very good ideas but if they want to discuss it, then they can have at it.

However, the team and its chances to do well make me excited to be a Cowboys fan and the offseason holds a lot of promise to my, admittedly, glass-half-full mind.

I hope you can find your optimism and excitement for the season, Jake.

The goal each year, is for the team to be in the Superbowl. Some fans live with expectancy, in spite of the gloom and doom.

No team plays, just to represent a brand, market merchandise, and buy media promotions. Wait a minute......?

I know that's the goal but to say we're going all the time makes us look stupid lol. That's one of the main reasons people hate the cowboys is because of our fanbase.

So what to do...jump ship? Is that what you’re doing? What’s your solution? If you follow the team with any kind of passion, if you’re going to function like any normal fan of any team, you’ll speculate. You’ll be happy or sad, depending on the circumstance, and you’ll hope for the best. What else can you do?

The Cowboys brain trust is better than some, not as good as others. The Patriots’ success is all about Belichick. They were crap before him, and they’ll be mortal again when he leaves. Does that make Kraft and his staff idiots?

I agree. But I think we can point to coaching ever since Jimmy won his 3rd through Barry. The Cowboys have had 1 good coach since Jimmy, Bill Parcells. Then Bill proceeds to do the same thing Jimmy did, and leave Wade a monster team. Had Bill stayed I don't believe the Cowboys would have crapped the bed like they did with Wade in the following years. Then we get Garrett. So it probably doesn't matter who's at QB. We can point to the times Jerry Jones screwed up with trades and inserting himself too much all we want, but if you have poor coaching, that's not going to matter much anyway.

Question is...…...what kind of coach do we have now? I beat up Dak a lot on here, but what if it is a poor coaching staff? Garrett had 1 good year with Romo and the rest crap. And I think Romo was a damn good QB. Close to the same with Dak and now I'm blaming Dak? I just don't know. It's a bad situation.

To a large degree, this franchise continues to be prisoners of the 90's. That isn't going to happen ever again. There is always going to be a salary cap and no one is ever doing the Herschel deal again.

The organization needs to look forward and not backward. How do you win a super bowl?
- Take all 3 phases of the game seriously.
- Draft well
- Don't give out stupid huge contracts to older players
- Have a great coach
- Be healthy (which is a lot of luck)
- Get lucky in a few close games where one play decides it

With the firing of Garrett, Dallas MAY have taken a big step forward. I'm not sold on MM but I was sold on the fact that Garrett was hurting the team. The drafting hasn't been good the last two years though and Dallas has given out some stupid deals and looks to give out a few more.

I really don't see Dallas as a super bowl team next year but maybe I'm wrong and Garrett was even worse than I thought.

I feel the Cowboys had two teams with Romo and one so far with Dak that got hot in December and looked like a team that could get to the conference championship or SB. Unless there’s a team just steamrolling everyone, most teams n the playoffs at least have a chance. Those 3 times the defense and offensive turnovers derailed us early. McCarthy is clearly a coach who knows how to get there.

If we can keep a top 5 or even top 10 offense and build a better defense that can slow down the run and get off the field in the fourth quarter, we will have a chance the next few years.

Agree, Garrett was just not the man for the job but after Wade, old jerrah was determined to force a round peg into a square whole.

Sounds like you need to find something else to do with your time, and your life.

If this team brings you nothing but the misery and disappointment you're claiming, find something more positive and productive to do with your time.

Believe it or not, nobody is forcing you to follow the Cowboys.
