I love Witten to death, but this is the right move. Lee has more and Witten doesn't.

Lee was our best LB last year. Witt was second for TE’s.

First what makes you think any of these sportswriters have ANY inside sources? When they actually quote a source THEN you can believe what they say. If a sportswriter prints something with a quote but it isn't true he knows that he'll never get access to that source again. When they don't quote a source or just say a source all they are doing is speculating and writing what they THINK is or will happen. By commenting on all these speculations you're giving those sportswriters credit for their speculation. Yes it's the off season but that doesn't mean we have to comment or have discussions based on some sportswriter's gossip speculation. The users here come up with more than enough wild cray ideas that we don't need the speculation from sportswriter. But if want to believe them go ahead but don't expect most of us to think what they are speculating about is real.

I'm not against adding a LB but with the amount of holes to fill elsewhere, I just dont see them making it a priority. If Lee comes back I think they try and get Jaylon, who they just paid, to play up to his ability and LVE, If healthy enough to start the season, has shown flashes that he can be a full time starter as well. If Lee is here as the security blanket for one of those guys going down, I think they keep a couple of average at best back ups.

The position is important and needs to be much better then last year but with corner, safety, dt and de if Quinn is gone, left to fill? Lb just seems like it will fall too far down the list to invest in getting a good starting quality guy.

The link at the top of this thread is an article based on another sportswriter's article, just a sportswriter helping to spread the first one's speculation. Now you heard it in another place so now there's someone else who is helping to spread the original speculation. The first sportswriter didn't quote anyone so it's just speculation.

I mean does the title of the thread not start with “Cowboys Rumors”? It’s an insider who is sharing what he’s hearing, nowhere did I say Sean Lee was signed and Witten officially parting ways. One of the purposes of this forum is to follow every tidbit of the team, when an insider expresses what he’s heard we like to know that.

Also, if you’ve been keeping tabs on this offseason, you kinda get the feeling that the team is done with Witten. It also seems as though they appreciate what Sean Lee brought last year and would be interested in a re-up. So Watkins is just providing his 2 cents, which I deem worthy of a thread. Sorry

Ok so you’re just taking the most pessimistic possible view now lol. You doubt that he has any sources and that he’s just lying and making stuff up. All while Watkins is a reporter close to the team and not some blogger. Can’t discuss with someone who‘s so dark, mad that we are having offseason discussions lol just don’t comment then

Even in a backup role Lee will miss 6-8 games. Not worth it. Develop someone.

Jarwin is in his contract year. His progress this year will be his problem next year, not ours. Witten would be a progress stopper for the guy we need to draft to replace Jarwin. Time to move on from Witt, and they seem to be doing it.

OK you keep believing all the articles that do not actually quote anyone. EVERYONE knows the off season is slow and EVERYONE knows that a sportswriter won't stay employed if during the off season of all he does is writing articles after articles day after day saying things are slow today and nothing new happened. So gee how can I keep my clicks up? Well I can write articles speculating on what I think is going to happen and to make it look good I can just say a source or sometimes I won't even have to say that because everyone will believe that I have these sources that talk to just me every day. Yes you're free to believe every word sportswriter write especially those articles that don't actually quote anyone.
