2nd Wave of FA about to take place

-2 surprises happen early on in fa, team lost Robert Quinn & Randall Cobb, 2 players we heard the team hoped to retain. Great WR Class, but not so much with edge rushers. Since the development of Defensive Lineman takes time, signing a fa makes the most sense. Griffen, Vernon are two names I hope are on the team's radar.

-It appears that we won't see another CB fa signing as the Front Office decided to not invest in either Chris Harris or Trufant. 4 rostered CB's, should looks like #5 will come from the draft, perhaps even our 1st rd pick. It wouldn't me that they won't draft a couple as both Awuzie/Lewis are fa's after the season. Strong CB class can find us a, impact, plug and play starter.

-The NT/1-Tech class is starting to thin out. Will the team finally fill the need or continue to bring in bottom feeders at the position? The likes of Billings, Snacks Harrison are still available.

-I just cannot see the team staying pat at the safety position. Woods is scheduled to become a fa in 2021. Thompson is strictly a backup and Wilson is a very green prospect. There is still a lot of quality out there in fa.

Team still has a lot of cap room, in which they can even create more cap space, they are far from finished.

2nd wave is nice. But most all safeties and DTs have been picked through sadly

Maybe they pull a trade off like they did for Quinn last year for one of these spots, DE/CB or Safety. I'd like to not need all 3 going into the draft.

But there are often good Ss out there on pretty cheapish contracts. Why not grab one of them and still draft a kid. We've seen what happens when they think the draft will solve their problems.

Tall task to ask your first three picks to be day one starters at CB, S and likely DE

Hopefully Gregory returns and eliminates the need at RDE

At this stage, none of us should be puzzled. They have handled that position and the DT (specifically the 1Tech/NT) position as afterthoughts.

I can't for the life of me understand their stance with that. I was hoping a new coaching regime would value the position enough to go after someone in FA but the draft could very well bring us a quality player.

I dont know who will be available when draft night comes but I hope it lines up where we take someone in the first 2 rounds.

Like I said in another thread, I'm trusting MM ......remember he's using analytics but one player I'd love to see added is Vikes safety Anthony Harris

Yea I was thinking they gave him the tag just to get compensation so he didn't walk but dont have the money to pay him or dont value him enough to create the space to do so. I think a mid round pick to them for Harris would be great for this defense.

I don't get the Bell love. Did I miss something and he played really well?

There is still plenty of fa safeties available, certainly upgrades over Thompson at the position. HaHa, Phillips, Randall, R. Jones, Jefferson, Bell, etc.
