Does Taking Jordan Love At 17 Make Sense If No Dak Deal Is Made By Draft Day

What were we agreeing to disagree on? You keep talking about the team and I’ve already said I was talking about what most fans would say. I didn’t mention anything about a tag in our discussion outside of answering your question.

Did you just forget your earlier post?

We disagree on Dak so I do think a decent QB would suffice but now with its being gone I'm moreso with drafting one.

Are we on the same page now?!?

This is a serious question/point.

I have always enjoyed the old school gunslingers but the NFL has been moving away from that.

Kaepernick and Newton started the fairly recent trend but didn't quite win the Superbowl.

Wilson won a Superbowl and reached another - largely thanks to an excellent defense but he has always been excellent at scrambling and executing plays on the run.

Last two seasons Mahomes and then Jackson ran away with the MVP, the former won the Superbowl last season and rushed for a ridiculous amount of yards for the Chiefs in the play offs.

I think Jackson will win the Superbowl next season.

The likes of Kyler Murray and Josh Allen look exciting and it will be interesting to see how they develop with Hopkins and Diggs respectively.

Watson has also been excellent.

Tua and Herbert will be drafted in the first ten picks, I think in the first six as they possess the aforementioned traits of QBs that have been successful in recent seasons.

When Prescott entered the league, he possessed that similar duel threat.

Can he do that next season? Does he still have the wheels? Play calling?

Prescott has improved with his passing since her first entered the league, as you would expect. I also think he is generally very good at throwing whilst scrambling which is one of the most difficult skills to possess as a QB.

However, in my view, he still struggles with beating man to man coverage, both over the top and in tight windows.

I still question his ability to anticipate the throw before a receiver is open against good teams.

He has also struggled stepping into his throws and climbing into the pocket - as a result when his feet aren't set his throws are wayward. Those are the inaccurate throws that I and others have mentioned on here.

If you disagree just watch the tape over the past four seasons.

It's like the coaching staff tried to turn him into a pocket passer last season when, despite the numbers, it just doesn't suit his skill set.

I get the whole, you take what the defense gives you, but at some point you need to make the big boy throws to win games if you going to be a pocket passer.

It's why, given that Prescott will be staying regardless of what we think/desire, I would much prefer that they use his wheels.

But will he still have the same pop he used to?

It's why I like Herbert so much, I think in the right system he will tear up the league but even though i'm not a fan of his and far from convinced, it will be interesting how McCarthy uses Prescott next season.

Dak has been franchised. Deal or no deal he is a Cowboy in 2020
great. so you take someone like Love and groom them in case Dak decides to play under the tag this year and do this all over again next year.

I agree with your comment but that doesn't answer the question asked. The question was, "does it make sense to draft Jordan Love with no Dak deal being made?". That means a high draft pick is used.
I answered the question. It was no I would draft someone in a late round only

No he becomes a guy sitting at home on the bench. For a season. Without pay I believe

Jake Fromm would be better in the 4th. He is the most pro ready. Does not throw a great deep ball, but with the West Coast, this guy could be pretty terrific.

Solves a couple of issues. Send the spares Dallas has as back-ups to the curb, and put a little pressure on Dak to step up. If this guy was drafted in the 4th, I might leave Dak in a tag status and see what he produces with his career with Dallas as an ante for 2021.

A QB in the first round wouldnt make much sense if you are trying to win right now. I thought that is why we got MM.
We got MM so we can win in future. Is Dak someone who can help us win the Superbowl? Sure. We seen a number of QBs wh
Why can't we find a future qb other than using a 1st round pick?
Well they don't come very often
Why can't we find a future qb other than using a 1st round pick?
Well I suppose it's possible, but all probabilities say you get him in 1st Rd, aside from the fact that if we move on from Dak we are moving on from a non-first rounder

Sir that was just a acknowledgement that we disagree on Dak. The majority of our back and forth hasn't really focused on him perse. Its was about fan reaction in my case and team reaction in yours. So yeah I did ",forget" my earlier post because it wasn't close to the main thing we were talking about not to me.

Not a bash Dak thread. But if negotiations don’t go as planned. Isn’t it smart for organization to prepare for the inevitable. Hold outs and bad feelings. MM doesn’t have any connections with Dak. He might want a fresh start.
not that high but Jhurts at 3/4th I think hes a lot like dak, easy tp plugs in this offense for 2021..he has year under Dak and MM/KM also use him like Taysom Hill in 2020 to get his feet wet in nfl speed etc..

the plan should have always been draft Jalen Hurts in second or trade up after first pick and use that 25-30 million saved per year to get great depth on lines and secondary

Before I knew of your level of lack I was just letting you know you that the tag could be rescinded which you left out. After answering your question of why I have no need to communicate with a person of your level. Good day sir

Instead of Jordan Love, I think we should contact the agent for Dirk Diggler.

Seriously, McCarthy is on board with Dak based on what he has stated about Dak in the media. I just don't see head coach McCarthy being a disingenuous communicator who toys with his words. If the negotiations freeze to absolute zero between now and draft day McCarthy and the Cowboys should consider drafting an available talented quarterback in the early rounds.

Face it: Dak is here to stay.
No team is giving up two No. 1s for Dak.
Second, Dak wants to be here. Don't get lost in the posturing. Dak wants to play for the Cowboys, and the Joneses want to keep Dak.
As much as many of us may or may not like Dak as the quarterback, I think the tea leaves have already spoken.

Maybe you should start drinking coffee?

There is not a QB in this draft as good as Pat Mahomes. Or even close.
In fact no QB in this draft other than Joe Burrow is actually in the top 50 players.

They will of course be drafted well above slot because they are QBs.

DAL has potential starting openings at RDE, CB, TE, OC, WR3, WLB, FB... so no they shouldn't hedge their bets this year at QB.

They went and hired McCarthy because they felt this was a team with Super Bowl caliber talent that needed better coaching and some overhaul in terms of depth.
You don't waste high draft picks aiming for 3 years down the road in this situation.

Stop it lol. I was trying to tell the person they left something out and because they are a super Dak homer got snarky so I returned the snark. Someone else asked later in this same thread and we had a civil back and forth. I mainly give the same energy someone gives out but I’m human and can get silly myself.
