Didn’t they interview him at the combine as well as the virtual interview?

Marcus mosher put up a few plays on Twitter where he misread the play etc. Of course he negated to show the 95% of the time he’s a hell of a player.

He’s a better Jaylon Smith that can actually cover the pass

Love the athlete, not a big fan of the player. When evaluating LBs and Ss one of the biggest thing I look for is instincts and ability to diagnose. That shows up S a negative in more than 1 report in him so 17 is way too rich for me.

Let's say this....I want Murray a lot more than a corner who refuses to tackle.

If the top 3 WR, 2 DT are gone, I'm torn between Murray and Baun at 17.

PROS: Rangy and urgent football player that executes with a high level of competitive toughness. Relentlessly attacks the football and makes unbelievable plays based on secondary efort while closing down considerable distances. Fast to flow and takes tight, aggressive angles to the ball. Does well to get ahead of blocks with his quick trigger and has success slipping/undercutting blocks. Has some impressive moments where he showcases patience, keeping the door shut for cutback and misdirection plays. Has the mobility needed to get ideal depth in coverage drops. Hasn’t been tasked with many man coverage reps but he has the physical traits needed to find success. Explosive and powerful hitter with outstanding contact balance. Often comes in hot and routinely makes tackles outside of his frame. Does well to wrap up and grab cloth when tackling. He’s a physical, powerful and relentless tone-setting presence.

CONS: While he commits mistakes at full speed, he is guilty of running himself completely out of plays with misreads and is also guilty of being too patient on other occasions. Also falls victim to playing some reps through a straw and not being as spatially aware as he should be. Has room for growth with deconstructing blocks by keeping his hands more engaged to shed. Didn’t get him in trouble often in the Big 12 but he’ll need to arrive to the ball under better control at the next level.

His scouting report sounds a lot like how Jaylon Smith is today. Poor instincts is a deal breaker for me at the linebacker position. It's a trait you cannot learn, either you have it or you don't. I can care less how athletic you are if you don't have elite instincts at the position, see Bruce Carter. Now the other part of the discussion is, where do you play him? Are you benching one of Jaylon/Lve? Are you moving to the 3-4? I would be strongly against this selection!

Agreed. Dallas has enough athleticism at LB, they need a guy who can actually play LB. I wouldn't touch any LB in this draft in the first, and Murray shows things to be concerned about.

Agree 100%. I feel like teams overvalue athleticism over instincts at times at the LB position. I’d rather have Logan Wilson in the 3rd.

Idk about the third, but yea, I'd rather go Wilson (or one of the 7-8 lbers) late, than Murray early

So like two or three? No I disagree with that. His over aggressiveness got him into trouble a few times but his defensive line didn’t do their jobs by allowing the free release of the OL to the second level Idk maybe a scheme thing there at OU. This guy should be a Will backer where he can flow and make plays freely He’s vastly underrated imo but I do think there’s a lot of other holes that we need filled badly

If you find 2 or 3, it means it happens dozens of times. And no, you're wrong about both scheme and DL
This is simply missing his gap assignment:

Simply a blown coverage

Lack of reading keys

These are all the result of lack of vision/feel and have nothing to do with what the rest of the defense is doing. He is quite literally playing freely here.
