Quick, side bar...any team ever had 3 1000 yard receivers in a single season?
Interesting question. It's rare a QB would throw enough passes to specific players for that, especially a team with a strong RB getting his fair share of the workload. It would take throwing very little to TE's and RB's or a 4th WR.

Remember last year we didn't exactly have top flight tight end production. Also gallop was still developing. This helps regardless.

This guy is an absolute nightmare to tackle. To go along with zeke physicality and the oline on offense.

You need to look at the structure of the contract. It was discussed a number of times in various articles.

He's guaranteed $30M in salary the first two years (in addition to $4M of prorated bonus.

After 2021, none of his salary is guaranteed and the Cowboys would save $16M in cap savings by letting him walk.

If he's on the roster on July 5, 2022, another $20 million becomes fully guaranteed.

The structure of the contract makes no difference we were looking long-term with him. Signing him cost us one of our best players and has made it more difficult to get Dak re-signed. The Cowboys would have never allowed Byron Jones to walk had they been thinking only two years with Amari.

Is he that good? Honestly, I do not know...

Lamb (6’2/198) was a three-year starting outside receiver at Oklahoma who earned consensus All-American honors as a true junior by posting a 62/1,324/14 receiving line. He easily led the draft class in yards per target (15.1) and yards after the catch (11.0), seamlessly dodging would-be tacklers in open space. He wins at the line of scrimmage with quick feet and finishes off plays with in-air adjustments, drawing comparisons to DeAndre Hopkins. Lamb will be utilized in the screen game and on vertical routes as an all-around go-to slot option with Dallas despite being an average-sized wideout with 4.50 speed. His elite production, ball skills, and after-the-catch magic give him top-10 potential from Day 1. With only Amari Cooper and Michael Gallup still around as viable wideouts, Lamb will undoubtedly start in three-wide sets as a 21-year-old rookie out the gates, pushing Cooper to the slot at times. Lamb himself also led the nation in yards per route run (6.11) from the slot last year

Yes, I wanted defense in the first round.

But a guy that many thought was a Top 10 pick and possibly the best WR in the draft fell to us at 17.

You take that guy (or trade because of the value possibly available). You don't pass on him just to take defense.

That's the position I'm taking too. I wanted. Haisson big time, but I can't be mad that the team took the top receiver in the draft when he fell into their laps.

Well see, I have my doubts, can't think of to many 3rd year players getting traded. Of course it happens. If the Cowboys sign him now it would only help the Cowboys, if I am Gallup I wait and get my full value, but sure as a fan I would love to get him signed earlier if we can get some sort of discount.

I didnt say it had to be this year. But letting him walk for nothing like they did with Jones would be dumb.

Sorry Jerrah. Not sure how valuable a 3rd receiver is in the first round when you just paid $100M to your #1 WR and you also have another guy that will probably command more looks in Gallup. The right call would have been to trade down for more value. I'm not questioning the guy's talent but the return he will provide when Dallas is a run first with Zeke.

Don't figure too hard, prep. He adds to a three receiver set that will DEMAND the 8th man out of the box. Run Elliott then? Or use him in a receiving role?

Yea it's all Dak at least mostly. Unless you have a terrible defense Dak scares no one with his legs or arm. He lacks the ability to throw anything other than straight line bullets type passes and those are easily defended. He did better last year against weak teams. We will need a very tough defense keeping us in games untill we can score.
So, what. the QB is 70% responsible for wins and losses and the rest of the roster only 30% responsible? What's the split?

Damn, Aaron Rogers sucked in 2018 - he went 6-9-1. 2019 and other seasons must be miracles from heaven for him.

Who are the QBs that "scare defenses"? Outside of Mahomes, Rodgers, and to a little lesser degree Brees, Brady and Wilson, who are all these players? People like to suggest there are loads of superstar, scare the hell out of defenses, QBs all over the league, and Dallas is trailing most of the NFL on that front, but that's not reality. There really are only a few QBs that really fit that description, and 3 of them were drafted between 15-20 years ago, and only one of them has been drafted the last 7 years.

We've only got 1 pick in the 4th

I like those positions though

My bad, I was thinking of the comp 5th but its a 4th. Still time to take a Boise State DE since we missed out on Chaisson though.
