I can't really disagree with the selection. Best player available and he will strengthen the offensive unit from day one.
As others have mentioned, it depends how the rest of the draft pans out. We badly need some quality in our secondary and need another pass rusher because we can't really rely on Smith/Gregory to get 12-15 sacks between them based on their history. We would then be better placed to judge.
If ultimately the defensive needs have not been addressed - our secondary is horrific right now, then all another first round draft pick on the offense will do is increase the amount of points per game by what 3-5 but we will still lose a bunch of games due to insufficient resources invested in the defense.
So the Prescott lovers will say he did his job and quote the numbers which arguably most starting QBs would achieve in this offense and just blame the defense not factoring in the difference in resources invested into each unit.
On a side note, after the Packers traded up to draft the apparent replacement of Aaron Rodgers - a proper slap in his face given he has carried the franchise for ten years (zero first round picks invested in offensive skill players until last night to replace him!), it makes you understand why players focus on earning as much as they can whilst in the position to do so as often a franchise/owner is ready to ship them on whenever they feel like it.
