It would be hard not to take Troy Aikman but even with him we wouldn’t win with this defense. I believe Dak is good enough for us to win a Super Bowl so I would have to go with a defensive player. I’m struggling between Ware and Deion. We didn’t win anything with Ware but won a championship with Deion. However, we won two Super Bowl’s without Deon. I think I would take Ware. Got to have a strong pass rush to win in December and January and no one in franchise history had more sacks than Ware.

In today’s game Randy White wouldn’t be able to play on the DL at 257 pounds which was his playing weight. We tried him at LB his rookie year and he couldn’t play the position.

Yeah right Randy White sucks.

Allow me to educate you. You need it based on our back and forth the other night. Randy White in a modern NFL conditioning and weight training program would probably be 25 to 30 pounds bigger. With his tenacity and skill he would dominate still.

Where did I say he sucks? LOL Apparently our back-and-forth last night got under your skin. You told me this isn’t a family forum and you’re saying I need educating? LOL White was undersized at the time for a DT which is one reason the Cowboys tried moving him to LB. Even an extra 25 to 30 pounds would make him undersized in today’s NFL. Most of the DTs today are at least 300 pounds plus. He would have to add a ton of weight and play effectively. If I’m going to pick a player from years ago to play today I would pick one who could play at the weight they played at.

Adding a lot of weight to a player can have an adverse affect on their performance. Randy White was quick and could run. He wouldn’t have been the same player with another 40-50 pounds on him which is what he would’ve had to gain to play today at DT. The OL’s today are so much bigger than they were years ago that you need a lot of beef upfront on the DL. You have to be able to push and collapse the pocket.

You are not under my skin. I actually feel sorry for you. Let me help you out some more. Aaron Donald. Too small to play DT in the NFL. Remember? Guy is a top 3 player in the entire game. Skill set mirrors White’s. Stop embarrassing yourself.

You told me last night this wasn’t a family forum so don’t try and educate anyone you’re not qualified. By the way good luck finding that thread. Lol Aaron Donald is one of the rare exceptions and he still plays at around 285-290 pounds. A lot of players from the 70s would have a very difficult time playing the game today at the weight they played at during their primes. I saw an interview with White a few years ago and he admitted it would be tough to play the game today. He said the most he ever played at was 270 and was having a tough time carrying it. He said he felt like it affected his quickness so he went back down to 260. He mentioned the size of players today. Big difference!

I'm going to go with where we need help the most. Charlie Waters. That guy was a shark. Johnny on the spot. Whenever I go back and watch older games he's always picking off or breaking up passes and plays. If I wasn't a Cowboys fan I would hate that guy.

This is a fun exercise and thought it might make a cool debate.

If you could bring back one past player from the Cowboys and inject him into this year's team in his prime for this season only, who would it be?

As I mulled over the question, a lot of guys came to mind. I thought about the QBs of the past and while I would love to see Aikman's surgical accuracy with this team, I don't think we gain that much improvement.

I would love to see Michael Irvin back, but WR is already a strenght.

There are a lot of great linemen in Cowboys' past, but our line is already good.

So for me it came down to four possibilities:

Charles Haley
Demarcus Ware
Darren Woodson
Deion Sanders

And I decided on Sanders. I know we added a lot to the QB room, but I think Sanders locking down one side of the field would be lot of fun to watch.

I had a different type of answer in mind based on the thread title...the answer was prime years Pamela Anderson...

Troy Aikman in his prime would certainly have been good enough but when he didn’t have a defense later in his career he couldn’t win games. He had to put up bigger numbers later in his career due to our defense and we weren’t winning. With what we have on offense along with the addition of Lamb we need a great defensive player to get us over the hump. Our early 90s teams got over the hump by adding Charles Haley a great pass rusher and a true game wrecker. The best chance of winning games especially these days is wrecking havoc on the QB.

Larry Allen.

All the play action you can build with Zeke running behind him and our WR’s is a nightmare.

On defense it’s probably gonna be Woody or Ware
