It's at the point of becoming nonsense. No excuse why it hasn't been completed.

The other two QBs from his class Goff and Wentz are done. Why hasn't Dak?

If Mohomes and Watson go through this BS, then we've solved the riddle.

I honestly cannot remember any QB Contract negotiation taking this long ( without a doubt their may have been i just cannot recall one ) Seems like this has become the perfect storm situational wise which contributed to this.... If i am missing anything please feel free to add your thoughts

I am sure the Jerry and company media comments have amplified this as well but when you look at everything this is a unique storm sort to speak !

Dak Drafted never expected to start
Romo and company get hurt
Dak Kills it rookie season

Takes the starting job which seemed a long shot or at least years away ( thus causing a divide with the romo lovers when he lost his job, i loved romo and loved what Dak did what a weird place to be)

Since he is not a first round pick rookie contract is less years than expected and lower in comparison. COWBOYS WIN

I am sure Dak did not think he would be in this position to get a pay day like this, this quickly- Maybe eventually but not this soon !

Then you get Wentz and Geoff being paid early not to mention Garapallo ( butchered that spelling i am sure LOL) getting paid while sort of being unproven

Daks agent personally is in a tough position ---- Daks contract needs to be good so he can use it as an example to other potential clients --- with the leagues revenue and pay scale about to shift dramatically in a few years i fully understand why he wants a shorter deal so he can negotiate a second contract we are in uncharted waters !!! I admire Dak for not being afraid to bet on himself ( i also don't blame him for going for his in a cut throat business where his career could end in one hit any of us would do the same thing use leverage we have to get a great deal ) ----- he may never have thought this type of payday was possible ! If Daks agent screws this up, it will be damaging to his career ( i get the agents position although as fans i hate it and i am sure noone cares about him LOL )

We have not even mentioned the Qb company Daks stats have put him with the start to his career. They have him on a path if he keeps it up for greatness !! then on the other hand there are those that argue well there is no superbowl title and he needs a superior cast to achieve what he has done it is a really muddled situation

How much of all this not winning a superbowl talk was Garrets Fault !!

So Many What if's or unanswered questions

I personally love dak and am 100% behind him i have stayed out of the countless threads regarding all the hate.

BUT in all seriousness Just looking at everything leading up to this negotiation it is just a really weird perfect storm.

I really hope this gets worked out soon though so we can move on honestly i am tired of it, but all along this was never a normal contract discussion or situation ! Just my 2 Cents

The Cowboys know that the contract demands are all due to the agent.

Dak originally said on camera when asked about the Russell Wilson contract "I don't expect that much".

Dak has earned a total of 4 million up to this point in his career (not including endorsements).

It is highly unlikely that he would hold out when even playing on the Franchise Tag pays him 31 million for 1 season.

It was much different with Zeke because Zeke had already earned about 20 million at the point he held out of the off-season and threatened to hold out during the season. He was set to make about 5 million for the 2019 season which was about 1/4th of his earnings up to that point. On the tag Dak is set to make in 1 season about 8 times what he has made up to this point.

That would buy a bunch of steaks and potatoes for this Cowboys fan...I might even sleep in, once, as well.

Deadline to sign a new contract
For the teams that tag players, the deadline for those clubs to sign those players to long-term contract extensions is July 15 at 4 p.m. ET.

If a tagged player does not have an extension in place by that deadline, he will play out the season on the tag.

The Cowboys have a history of waiting until near a deadline before making a strong push to complete a contract.

Before the rookie cap was in place, the Cowboys would often delay signing draft picks until just before time to report to camp.

In the DLaw negotiations they Franchised him once and then starting negotiating a new contract when they franchised him the 2nd time.

The deadline in DLaw's agent's mind was the date for the first OTAs. The agent feared DLaw's teammates would start contacting him about how he was missed and that DLaw would give in and end the holdout. All players would be back in Dallas once OTAs started and would likely be hanging out with DLaw socially.

None of us know squat about what the negotiations are we can only guess. My guess is the amount of money has been decided and I think it's less than the 40 mil a year that's been bandied about. My guess there are two sticking points. One is the length of the contract and the other is the guaranteed amount on the contract. Prescott wants less years and more guaranteed money and them Cowboys want more years and less guaranteed money. When it's all said and done my guess it will be 36-38 mil a year for 4 years with just the signing bonus and first 2 years salary guaranteed.

Good overview.
I do think this has the potential to become a real distraction to the team and hope they can come to a reasonable compromise soon.
This issue is now my biggest concern for the team going forward.

His request must be so unrealistic that they simply aren’t close and that’s why it’s taking so long. That’s really the only thing that makes sense.

I guess you don't read on here or about the Cowboys. And you don't watch TV either.

Its been said 1000 times what the one little issue is and it has nothing to do with money and has nothing to do with Dak asking for something unreasonable.

All Dak wants is a 4 year deal instead of a 5 year deal. Its the Cowboys that are not giving it to him.

When most teams and most trolls would jump at a shorter contract.

Jerry and Dak's agent should come out and make the negotiations public so the fans know who to scream and throw eggs at.

Right. He's having to wait. This is the biggest contract Jerry has given out to date so Jerry isn't willing to cave just yet. But he will cave.

And waiting and waiting and waiting.....for Dak to bomb out this year with all the best weapons in the NFL around him and get the Dak-Boot out of here!!

Coming NFL season in serious doubt so there's no urgency on Cowboys side to overpay or else JJ would have done it already.

Because I have a sense that both parties are committed to getting an agreement done, I've never been that concerned about it, despite how long its been going on.
I agree with this ! i personally have never been worried and have always felt a deal will get there just found all of what led up to Dak's 2nd contract has been very interesting gonna make a great 30/30 special at the end of his career !

I would go the other way and say the Rams and Eagles got their qbs signed, and the Cowboys are failing in that regard. Stephen Jones has a track record now of waiting till the last minute to get deals done. He even says "deadlines make deals" as a motto.

He wants 4, give him 4. Seems like less years to deal with a QB if you don't like him. Don't know what Jerry is doing.

Can't wait to see that 30/30 episode.

But you do see how these sports talk shows play up the drama. I don't get caught up in it but I know many do. They allow themselves to get emotionally invested.

Why would Jerry or any owner do that? When players negotiate contracts, fans overwhelming side with owners because they want to see players get less. Then hate the players when they don't. Did you not see people calling Zeke "greedy" and "disrespectful" for "asking out of turn?" Those people held up Dak as a shining example of just "playing on the deal you signed." Now that Dak has "waited his turn" and doesn't have a contract, those same people are now saying he has character flaws and calling him greedy for not signing the initial contract offer.

Of course all those shows do ! don't know why you thought i took it so serious because i don't, they are all opinion based shows obviously ! i just found this particular segment interesting. In all honesty after the way injuries nagged romo, I didn't think it was out of the realm to have this discussion. Honestly i cannot say i have even thought of injuries with regards to Dak he is a sturdy dude. They just mentioned Cam, Dalton , and Flacco so i just relayed the topic of discussion i was not pushing any agenda or pushing anything as facts, ( not to mention how did you put it chicken little panicking Thats was funny BTW wether the cowboys sign a backup or not i could care less but i was curious to see who people would pick out of the three). I actually do like Cooper Rush would like to see him run more with the ones to honestly see if he is the long term answer but i doubt we will see that.

I also enjoyed a segment they had where Shannon in particularly discussed Jerry Juedys route running and comparisons to CeeDee Lamb since he played TE and has experience. All these shows and most of radio outside of official reports are opinion based i just find particular segments interesting and at this time of the year i look for anything Cowboy related.
