Don't you need an accurate passer that can throw the ball deep down the field to take advantage of the speed first???
No you look at Mahomes Mr. hail Mary another Aaron Rodgers. Stunk up the Super Bowl. You pull the ball up for grabs and let your speed receive and get it.

Bob Hayes would have run under 4.2 if there was such a thing back then. Randy Moss ran a 4.25. Devin Hester a 4.24 and Tyreek Hill a 4.24 as well. Speed is no guarantee of success, but it helps quite a bit. The thing about a guy with speed is not what he can do catching passes or running sweeps. Its also how his speed affects the defense to that others can succeed.

The Eagles have 2 sub-4.3 guys now and DeSean Jackson who ran a 4.35. Clearly they are trying to copy the Chiefs.
If anyone is interested:

Jourdan Lewis - 4.54
Chidobe Awuzie - 4.43
Anthony Brown - 4.35
Maurice Canaday - 4.49
Reggie Robinson - 4.44
Diggs did not run at the combine, but he is not reputed to be a fast guy. I doubt he runs under 4.5

For what it's worth Byron Jones ran a 4.40 on h is pro day.

With all due respect, Hayes would not have run under 4.2, guys today are faster overall than 50 years ago. And Hayes wasn't the most graceful of runners, his great 100 yard time was due much to being a really strong guy, he was able to push very hard down the track in the latter stages.

Sadly we'll never know...

Which has been more productive all around?

I’m not comparing the two, I’m just saying having J.J. Nelson on the roster will compliment Cooper and take some load off him, and provide a boost to the offense in away games.

I think you'd be better off just not saying anything.

Gallup isn't slow, Cooper is one of the quickest and fastest, and Lamp is more quick than fast. We have speed, they're not a bunch of Jason Wittens out there

Steve Smith Sr. 4.3 forty time and pretty successful receiver that can catch and run routes.

You do know that NFL teams use many different workouts besides the 40? Speed is great yet there have been WR with speed who can't run routs or have good hands, they do not have the ability to go up and take the ball. You are focused on 1 aspect and yet there is so much more than speed. That is why there have been many elite WR who do not run 4.3. Claiming Cowboys have no speed is a joke, you clearly do not get that Cooper also ran 4.3s but it is not just speed that has helped Cooper become a top WR.
