I thought hopes and dreams were to be in the post-season and win the SB.

The price ain’t going down Jerry.

That's true the price isnt going down but the amount isnt going up either. I think that's the point. Its take it or not

Dalton is gonna win 3 this year if Dak doesn't get off his high horse and come down to reality

It’s gonna be a heavy price in the W-L column.

Maybe, maybe not. But here's the thing, doesn't matter unless you can win championships. 14-2 and a playoff loss is actually worse then 8-8 and no playoffs IMO. At some point, you gotta win.

I get a kick outta people like the original poster. So worried about Dak that he can't enjoy the fact that we just upgraded our backup position 1000 percent. I feel the Cowboys have made a good faith offer to Dak, so it is up to Dak to step up. I don't think Dak is the best player on our team, but he is going to be paid like it and it won't even be close.

The Dak fans should not be worried/threatened and the Dak haters should not be acting like Dalton will win the starting job. Dalton should be a good backup QB...nothing more, nothing less. His days as a starting QB should be over (they should have been over years ago). If Dak goes down for 2-3 games and we need someone to win to keep us afloat in the standings then we should feel more confident in Dalton doing that than Rush.

The franchise's success will depend on Dak being able to take the next step under McCarthy because he is about to enter his prime and can still improve. At this point, Dalton is who he is. If he really enjoys it here then maybe you can convince him to stay for a few more years as the backup at an affordable contract.

Why did Dalton sign for only one year as a "back up"?

Think about it.

This has Tennessee written all over it.

Well, perhaps he sees an opportunity to become a starter in Dallas? The real question is, who's idea was it to sign for a year? Was it the teams or was it Dalton's? Either way, Dalton has a good chance of being the starter this season, in Dallas, for a number of games. If Dak holds out, he's the starter. If Dak signs but doesn't show up for several games, he's the starter. If Dak gets injured after having held out, he's a starter so he has a really good chance of showcasing his skills in an Offense with way more tools then anything he ever had in Cincy. If Dak ultimately moves on, there is the possibility of an extension as well. I don't think it hurts that he already has a home in Dallas and that his family does not have to adjust. Remember, Dalton has young children that will need to go to school at some point and the situation around Dallas is probably much better for his family. Remember, Jordan Dalton is also from Texas so you figure it's easier all the way around for them.

In 2019 Dak was 2 yards away from breaking the Cowboys all-time record for passing yards in season.
Yet he couldn't beat the Bears, Bill's, Jets, Vikings, or the Eagles to get to 8 wins and win the weakest division in the NFL.
And the Eagles were basically on injured reserve.
Yep, sounds like a Jason Garrett type leader, alright; more concerned about his personal stats than the Cowboys.

Did Dalton lose those playoff games? I seem to remember Burfict giving away at least one of those.

He gave away the game McCarron played in.

While it is a team game, Dalton was trash in all of them.

Just scanned the Giants boards, they all say excellent move and Dalton is way better. Dak gets no respect there.

The dude has played in 4 playoff games. The offense didn’t score more than 10 points in either game. The one time the Bengals scored 13 points, the defense scored the TD.

He has as many pick sixes as TD passes (1 each). He has 6 interceptions and 2 fumbles lost. (4 fumbles total).

The dude is terrible.

Are you talking about him being our franchise Quarterback or being a guy on a $3m 1-year deal to be our second string backup to Dak?

Do you make similar arguments stating that Tony Pollard is trash because he’s not Barry Sanders?

What about Blake “The Belldozer” Bell? He’s a backup tight end? Why isn’t he as good as Witten in his prime?

I don’t get why you, and others. Are trying to make this out to be something it’s not. As a backup QB, Andy Dalton has *exactly* the type of experience you want. He’s smart, has been a starting QB for almost a decade, can be a good mentor and teacher to a guy like DiNucci, should be able to come in and at least manage a couple of games or so and give us a chance to win.

No one expects to be able to ride him to a perfect season and a Super Bowl championship.

Dalton is the only quarterback to lead the Bengals to five consecutive playoff berths, and one of five quarterbacks to lead his team to the playoffs in each of his first five seasons.

The former speaks volumes of the Bengals' illustrious playoff history when a middling talent like Dalton sits atop their honor roll.

Don't get me wrong, I like the signing. The Cowboys needed an experienced backup. But he's nothing more than that. He's better than Cooper Rush; which is why he's here.

It's funny to me how people supposedly wanting the best for this team are now trying to start a war between the starting QB and backup QB (as if Dalton really has that many stans)

A lot of fragility on this forum when it comes to Dak.

Dalton was injured and didn't play in that one. A.J. McCarron was the QB in the Burfict game.

Dak Prescott is dividing our fan base more than Tony Romo ever did. Only a Super Bowl title will settle it once and for all.

Just like you and other Dak defenders are being called out too.

I haven’t been taking a defensive stance about Dak in these Dalton threads though.

I’ve said Dalton is a good signing as a back-up.

saying that people shouldn’t want him to start over Dak isn’t being a “Dak defender” it’s common sense. The thread is also about Dalton’s history in the playoffs. The difference in playoff performance between Dak and Dalton isn’t close. It isn’t even close. Dalton was abhorrent in the playoffs. That’s just the reality.

So if you want to call me out for pointing out simple facts. Feel free to do so. It doesn’t change those facts.
