Thanks for agreeing, the results were the same in 2007 and 2016. 1 and done.

Agreeing. :muttley:

Offense came up short in 2007, defense flopped in 2016.

But we have fans who blamed Romo for losing a game 51-48, so the Cowboys could lose 99-97 and you'd blame the QB for not scoring 100. It is what it is.

No one is clamoring for him to be his long-term replacement.

Roll with Dalton this year and trade Dak for a 2nd. Get a QB next year

You and the people who liked this post are overlooking something - Dallas can't trade Dak for anything. He's not under contract.

The tag keeps him from negotiating with anyone else (which is why they should've used the transition tag) but he's not theirs to trade.

Once he signs it, he can be traded

Dak is NOT pulling a leveon bell. He will sign it

Cincinnati made the playoffs every year from 2011-15.

Dallas made the playoffs just once between 2011-15.

What these franchises did historically before that had zero to do with how they’d fare in 2016 and beyond.

Cute excuse, though!

Cute?

I would argue that even the years cowboys didn't make the post season, cowboys had equal talent as the bangals.

Part of me hopes this comes to fruition. Ride with Dalton.

Greed is always a bad look, especially undeserved greed; and that’s what Dak is showing now.

To all you who use the “QB market” as a means to explain why Dak “deserves” $35-$40m/yr, don’t even start. Two terrible overpays by other teams shouldn’t obligate the Cowboys to follow suit. Dak is an average QB at best and completely reliant on all-pro talent surrounding him to be competent. That’s a proven fact!

3mil gets us a quality backup and some leverage against Dak. Well worth it. That's what was entirely lacking forever - leverage against Dak. Any thought that Jerry might move on without him. Dak wanted an over market price on a team that delivers over market benefits. And why not just forever ask for more more more, when Jerry says that not signing Dak is not an option, and leaves himself with no options besides.

Now Dak, and his agent, have to start thinking that *maybe* Jerry will move on from Dak, either this year or next.

Now something *other* than mo mo mo money might happen to Dak.

I still think Dak signs the tag and plays for a year. Maybe with this, he even reconsiders signing a long term deal to foreclose the possibility that Jerry moves on.

Two points for Dalton. Could be a sweet deal here for him. If he gets some play time, he'll audition to the league for next year on a high powered offense. *Maybe* the team likes him enough to move on from Dak.

Dalton is playing in Dallas for basically free ($3 million vs $2.5 million for cooper rush). I'm guessing if he hits a certain number of starts he gets the full $7 million which is still basically free. How do you not sign him under these circumstances?

Yeah, the Dalton signing would have made sense as a massive upgrade over Rush even if Dak were signed to the next thousand years. In itself, it doesn't mean anything.

But Dalton is someone that *maybe* they could be considering as going with over Dak. Something for Dak to consider.

It's a total no lose signing for the Cowboys.

Hat tip to Jerruh!

I like Dak the player and teammate. Very good kid. Too bad he hooked up with Jerry Maguire. It's a business but a little humility woudln't hurt. His lack of accuracy at crucial times hurts his stance. and now panhandling for a Jerry World payday. Still like the kid though. He is worth 30 mil 30.3 max no more until he gets the post season wins. Come on Dak you will be filthy rich anyhow and if you feel poor just hire a financial planner and turn 30 milllion into 55 million. That said the way it looks to me is that McCarthy expects excellence at that position because he has been around it for many years with the WCO, Montana, Young, Favre, Rogers. I like it. The Dallas Cowboys also use to expect that and then ... we lowered the bar ... like 50x. Times are a changing friends. Times are a changing.

a back up in name only. How many games in the oast 7 or so seasons was Dalton the back up? Keep telling yourself that Dallas just wanted a back up qb and this is why they brought Dalton in. The Jones' know where these negotiations are, they know the tone, they know things we do not know. If you think this signing was not meant to send a message to Dak and his agent, you are very naive.
100% agree

I don’t think signing Dalton was just about Dallas signing a good backup QB..

They did this to gain leverage in negotiations and if things go south they can go to Dalton.

Signing Dalton is not really a Dallas Cowboy type of move and it sounded like Jerry was done with that after Kyle Orton.

Something is up.
Make up your mind,QB guru.
According to ALL your Dak posts things have already gone "south".

****says that’s a proven fact as he proceeds to provide zero evidence to back up his claim

Make it make sense

Oh that’s cute..

Dalton can’t win as many games playing for the worst franchise in sports but I’m sure if Dak went up to Cincy they would magically have won 40 games just like they did here in Dallas.

Please stop it.

If Dalton plays the drop off is minimal if any.
Except for the fact that there’s zero evidence pointing towards that. I mean cmon people. If you’re going to make claims backup them up please. Saying ridiculous comments just because you’re bias is useless.
