Here's my 3 candidates. Jourdan Lewis, Donovan Wilson & Dorance Armstrong.
My break out player of the year strangely enough is Amari Cooper. No more disappearing on the road. I'm expecting 1,500 yards and 11 TD's. Especially if they line him up in the slot more.
He'll be fine as long as his constant battle with Plantar Fasciitis doesn't flare up again during the season.

Who is this year's breakout player:

X Woods-he was thought of last yr as the team's #1 breakout player
Awuzie-I believe if used right, could turn into one of the team's best defensive players
Lewis-he has to prove to the new staff he belongs

Armstrong-it's now or never. The three yr rule, if he doesn't show anything this yr, he will be replaced.

Jarwin-most likely the #1 breakout player this yr, should finally receive starter snaps with Witten gone.

Connor Williams-he is coming off of an acl injury in which he's going to face stiff competition.

Pollard-I believe the last staff didn't use him enough. Is like those old schooled 3rd down backs.

and thanks ...such a great breakaway other discussion from all the ever swarming Dak threads that blister this forum.
there are times when i'd wish the Mods would create a Dak thread only.
Geeeez... lol

Actually I don't think that's the issue. He can take localized pain injections every game. So to me, it's not his foot its him. JMO.

So many fans and the national media are fixated about his contract status. He will either play on the franchise tag or sign an extension. He has proven he is as good as Wentz/Goff from his QB class, both whom received their extensions. It's a pretty black and white subject manner with very little to debate. New Dak posts pop up day after day, saying basically the same thing. People did to accept the fact he's the team's QB today and for the future!

No it isn't Pollard.

Zeke is every coach's dream on 3rd down. Great at receiving and one of the best RBs in pass protection in the league.

Also laughable... folks cried when Zeke came out for a SINGLE snap in a game last year. Pollard came in and fumbled. But ya, let's take snaps from Zeke now.

-Zeke is a premium back who can do it all, he shouldn't come off the field unless he just needs to catch his breath.
-Pollard has a unique skill set and has legitimate homerun ability, team would be best served to find more snaps/touches for him, even if he and Zeke are on the field together.

Jarwin in a starting role and far more snaps and touches will be breakout player

Donovan Wilson would be my next in line

He has an connection with his safety coach, fully aware of his strengths and weaknesses. Did show legitimate ball skills in camp, but blew a few coverages during the regular season that limited his reps. With more experience he will only get better. Team has many at the position on the last yr of their deals, Wilson can crave out a role if he makes the next step this yr

i really believe that if Pollard has a breakout season, then it would have to be McCarthy's input and schematics that put him into better play

as a 2nd RB to the highest paid RB in NFL he's not gonna get carry snaps behind zeke, so a lot of his reps and touches will also have to
be in the pass game - and it would be limited reps with Lamb and Jarwin already in there.

i continue to insinuate that Pollard's role could become more like a nickel back while in the pass game- not a slot receiver as some are hoping he'd be.
That will be Lamb's role majority of the time.

As a receiving back in motion, preferably in the same backfield as zeke, we could see him take a role similar
such as we see with terrific receiving backs such as Chris Thompson, Sproles, where he can attack underneath and
occasional over the top on wheel routes.

Suggestion Awuzie needs to watch Linda Blair in the Exorcist so he can learn how to turn his head around.

Not sure why everyone acts like X.Woods is garbage lol. He’s already proven to be a league average FS, he graded out at a 73 on PFF last year. Puts him right in the middle league-wide.

He may never be anything more than average, but acting like he’s trash is off-base. Has definitely exceeded what you’d expect from a 6th rounder, as you rarely get league average starters at that position.

In watching Wilson's college games, I thought he was really good on the hash, then he showed he can play single high in preseason. On top of that, his work close to the LOS was solid as well. Due to my observations I thought he was best suited for FS, but with Cover 4 scheme Nolan is said to be implementing Wilson could do really well. It's just hard to see him stealing snaps from Woods or HaHa tho.

Blake Jarwin- I think he can do a good 600 yards and 6 TDs on the season, which would be huge given the talent at WR
Connor McGovern- At this point, I think Connor Williams is just serviceable, but I think McGovern beats him out at LG and never looks back

You're taking someone off the field. Zeke, Cooper, Gallup, Lamb or a TE. I suppose they could line up in 20 more often, but I don't expect to see a ton more snaps for Pollard as long as Zeke and the receivers are healthy. Of course, there are likely to be some games where one of those other 4 guys is out or limited.

Nice problem to have, though.
