This whole drama as-if this stall until 7/15 is all about Dak wanting x-money for x-years and the Joneses not being willing to pay it?

Nonsense.

It's about Dak wanting to wait to see if Mahomes signs something in the interim.

If he does, it potentially re-sets the market and gives him an extra wad of money. If he doesn't, then Dak at least hasn't committed to something prematurely and live to regret it... the choice, in that case and at that point, will be a straight-up question of if he likes the offer on the table enough to sign, or would rather play a year under the franchise tag.

Is it really possible to regret getting paid 35 million per year?

KC being really smart.
You don't think their not rushing to sign their franchise stud for the moon.
Dak can have table scraps at 107m guaranteed.

I'm beginning to think the Player's Union might be whispering in ears here.
I remember a certain player for a certain sport signing on to a team for less than market value (to help win a Championship) and the Player's Union had gripes about the precedent it was leaving and trying to protect players' salaries.

This was like 2, maybe 3 years ago.

I can't think of a Union that would forgive and forget such a thing. They are trying to drive player salaries up because, you know... they represent the players. Little guys be damned, but that's another story.

If Mahomes signs before Dak he's an idiot.

It could backfire just as easily. If Mahomes signs for anything around 35 million and more years than 4 then he will be stuck.

Maybe. Just imagine if Mahomes signs a contract that is team friendly (ie Brady) because he wants to win lots of SB then Dak screwed himself.
He could never do that. Hes a transcendant player.

Either way Dak is getting a raise. If Franchise Tag is top 5 Salaries or no?
