"Romo would of been a HOF on alot of other teams, cowboys were bad back then, romo carried them as best as he could.. Criminally underrated as a player though. 10x better than dak at this point in daks career"

Quote from a non-Cowboy fan on that tweet.

That about sums it up!

1. Romo starts

2. Roger Bench

3. Aikman bench

4. Dak cut

Romo starts because of how football evolved and the game suits him.

Roger would eventually start over Romo if he could adapt to todays game. He had the physical traits to do it from the highlights I have seen.

Aikman was great but statue QB's are becoming a thing of the past.
Troy wasn't a statue until injuries really began to take their toll on him. He was never a guy you'd call mobile, but he was a good athlete who could move when he needed to. With his accuracy, Troy in his prime would absolutely murder in a modern offense under today's rules.

What ya gonna do??????

Starting Staubach
bench = Akiman and Dak
Cutting Romo

Dak's younger with a proven higher ceiling based on his first four years IMO. But this is clearly a gut-wrenching decision that can go either way.

Wow you must like violence....smh:lmao2:

Romo and Dak are not in the conversation.

Start: Roger Aikman

Bench : Troy Staubach

This thread is not fair..infact it's criminal to Cowboy Nation choose. My brain hurts

I think we should delete your account for this:laugh:

I'd assume he's not a Giants, Seahawks or Packer fan because when it came time for Romo to take the step into elite status

1. Romo Fumbled

2. RW McQuarters baited Romo

3. Aaron Rodgers owns Romo

Love Tony but his career is over as a very good underachieving ROH Cowboys player from a DC QB1 standard.

I would start Roger over any QB. His greatest ability was as a leader and playmaker, especially late in games when it mattered most.

Look at his playoff resume’ :
  • Roger started 17 playoff games, winning 11. Meaning he won almost a third of the TOTAL Cowboys all time playoff wins in his 11 year career.
  • Roger won played in 6 NFC Championship games in 11 seasons, winning 4, winning 2 of 4 SBs he started.
  • Roger won 5 divisional playoff games over 9 seasons as a starter. We have ZERO divisional playoff wins in the last 24 seasons.

Tony was nearly flawless in 2014. Aikman and Staubach had seasons like that. Not Dak. Or White.

Dak has years to go. Maybe he matches that kind of performance someday. But he hasn't yet.

This makes most sense to me as well. Roger is the best we ever had, no question in my mind so he starts. However, Troy wasn't exactly sheep dip so no way he rides bench. He would eventually make his way out of Dallas. Same with Tony IMO. Dak, he's never really been a backup so I don't know that he could be one. Danny White, plenty good and he had experience being backup. Plus, he could step in and win games for you.

Good call Mojo.

Plus he could also punt, cant forget that, open up a roster spot...

I get what you saying but we can only look at Dak's first 4 years. You say Romo was flawless 2014 and you're right but could we not say the same about Dak 2016.

Troy, Roger, Tony
Not a knock on Dak at all to cut him with that proven line up in front of him, it's easy to do.

I'm confused about the criteria. Is it judging from the peak of the player's careers, and if so what does the comment about Dak being younger mean? All these guys were younger early in their careers. Well, not so much Staubach.

But, for me, I would go with Staubach as the starter, Aikman and Romo as the backups, and Dak being cut. But Dak is at a disadvantage because we know the history with the others, and his history is still being written. Ask me in a couple of years and I may slide Dak in and move Romo out.

There were proven lines in front of Roger and Troy too, so Dak isn't the only one that had that benefit. Still, for me, Roger and Troy are untouchable - they make the team, with Roger as the starter.

Daks getting cut. Id love to see prime Romo with this current team.

Maybe I change my mind in another season or two.

I'm not sure Cowboys fans see or understand Romo's not regarded as an elite/great QB outside of Cowboy circles coz as I've heard countless other fans say, he never won anything. In fact, most fans, co-worker, or what have you from other teams will quickly give him credit as the best broadcaster but as far his football career? They mostly remember the games he blew ( as they put it). This game is about winning playoffs games and championships......bottom line. We can argue 24-7 but at the end of the day, that's what it takes to have greatness associated with your name. Unfortunately for Romo, he has little postseason success to show for his career as a QB.

I probably should have worded better but I meant looking Dak's accomplishments in his first 4 years puts him on track to surpass many of Romo career and postseason stats.
