Still more proud of that team in defeat than the current team in victories .

For anyone going to wear 88 watching Drew Pearson in the final minutes of that game should be mandatory .

Roger did everything in his power to win that game but mistakes and the officiating proved to difficult to overcome .

Sad because it would have drastically changed the course of NFL history and Roger deserved better .

Still a great game to watch and so much better than the crap we are forced to watch today
I always thought that the difference in those dallas pitt sb games was bradshaw was allowed to call the plays, and roger was landrys puppet.
Roger was smart enough to call the plays, but I dont think he was ever allowed to except in some of the comebacks .

Landry created the OC position, and it is still here, but many qb's today should be allowed to call their own plays.

The ball was too perfect, Dak would have over thrown it and Jackie would have made a great catch and we would have won the game!!!!
That dropped pass happened in the 3rd quarter. The game win or loss didn't hinge on that one drop.

Super Bowl 13 was the toughest loss I’ve ever experienced as a Cowboys fan. The clear two best teams of the entire decade were matched up. And we had it within our grasp for a moment late in the 3rd....oh it still hurts.

Jackie Smith is the only Cowboy I truly despise as a player. Don’t have issues with him as a person but I will never forgive him for that drop.

Bless his heart he has to be the sickest man in America!

Technically the QB can always audible at the line of scrimmage to something else. But there are many reasons why the OC is better suited to call plays than the quarterback. The OC is under much less duress (he's not getting slammed to the turf by 260-pound linebackers), he can communicate with the staff and head coach for all kinds of input, if he's sitting in a box above the field he has a much better view of the field than the quarterback etc.

The referee blocking Charlie Waters on the Franco Harris touchdown and the Randy White muff were worse than the drop.
Plus the Steelers couldn't stop Tony Dorsett and Landry moved away from the run

Loved Drew Pearson but all I remember about him in that game was the first few minutes with his fumble on a reverse on the Cowboys opening drive at the Steelers 35 yard line. The Cowboys had a great drive going and blew a golden scoring opportunity. That set the tone for the entire game.

I remember watching that from a corner of my uncle's living room behind a line that said "Cowboys fans section" as the only person in the room not rooting for the Steelers. How many of you Texans have had that experience?

I was a kid. Most of the others were adults, and they still wonder why I hate the bleepin' Steelers.

I passed on watching the rerun. I don't need to relive the bogus PI on Benny Barnes, the Jackie Smith drop, or the fumbled kickoff return. No thanks.

Huge blizzard that night and the power went out in the 2nd half, i stole a car to try and get through the storm to my girlfriends house to catch the end of the game.

That Superbowl, and that night, sucked all the way around. Not a treasured memory.
10 year old kid. I could not watch as well because the power was out.

The days when you did not have a generator or satellite TV. Nowadays it is just fire up the generator and extension cords and off I go!

Yep it was horribly painful and to see Roger do everything in his power to bring us back but have his team really let him down was putting salt in the wound .

Roger deserved another SB win he played his heart out

It was not just a dropped pass . It was a dropped TD pass there is a big difference . We lost momentum having to kick a FG . It altered the game for sure .

one long run by Franco Harris was enabled by the referee "setting a pick" against Cliff Harris. He had the angle but ran into the ref. Frustrating but I guess it happens, in fact I am surprised it doesn't happen more.

dropped, short TS pass, to an open man thrown right to him and not thrown too hard.

Don’t care - never have, never will. Put that drop against The Catch by Dwight Clark. I’m so pi$$ed just thinking about that drop.
