Oh no, I had my hands slapped by the thread polices, for not staying on topic to his opinion.....so what are threads meant for and who are they meant for, do we need a thread disclaimer that you know as well as everyone else, do not go by.
There was a question and I answered it, too bad if you choose to disagree with my response....have a cup of coffee or something.

I didn't disagree with your opinion, you quoted and disagreed with mine. Lol. I never even saw or asked for your opinion.

Have a good one, go Cowboys!

I believe draft picks are already factored in.

Jamal Adams base is less than 900,000. If we extended him, I dont believe it would factor in to this years or next years cap unless we structured it too.
I think a chuck of the signing bonus would hit year one. But yes, signing him would be doable.

Would it have to? Would it be possible to have it hit 2021
I think signing bonuses cannot be fully delayed like that. It's the one apart that either hits all in year one or, more likely, is spread over year one and beyond.

The one way around it is if he would agree to not take the bonus until after year 1....which I doubt has ever happened.

Oh well then this thread isn't really meant for you if you aren't concerned about CAP space. That's what this thread is all about. It's not about being in a bad CAP positioning this year, CAP rolls over so it is something you should continually monitor, if you aren't getting value with a player then it is hurting your CAP for all subsequent years too.

Those three players were mentioned because we can still put together our best roster without them.
I have never been concerned about The salary cap. It has never been an issue for the franchise. Just for the fans. They don’t truly understand that they hire multiple mathematicians to figure this stuff out. We don’t go after high price free agents anyways it’s not with the franchise does. So again I’ve never seen it and issue with the Cowboys

Yes rollover what they can. Part of that $11 million goes to the draft picks, unless that was already figured in.
I can't see them cutting players key or role players to save cap space, unless some UDFA clearly out plays them. however with the lack of practices and possibly TC, many rookies will not be able to compete as normal.
College is the new NFL training camp. Teams draft a player 1st to 2nd round. They know they’re going to start in almost every case. This is a league of young men. Most players are released by the patriots at time of signing. They just know how to find talent. I agree with you. In many ways

The purpose of the thread was what could be done to get additional cap space this year if needed

I had seen posts questioning how we could make certain moves with only 11 million cap space. I wanted more information put out about how we can generate more cap space if needed[/QUOTE
I understand wanting to have a Intelligent conversation with all people looking past the Initial purpose. Basically you’re releasing a player to add a player select salary as a wash unless the second player makes a little bit more. Again I’ve never seen the cap be an issue for this franchise

Restructure:
DLaw - $11m
Zack Martin - $8m
Tyron - $7m
Cut Prescott/Crawford & Hill. "Restructure" ONLY if the said mentioned play decreases even more. Like Dlaw's pathetic 5 sacks last season. LOL. He was tied for 73rd with those 5 sacks. Pathetic!

I know a Prescott extension gives us more space. Cutting Crawford does as well.

What others moves are there we can make to create cap space

Teams can always move around money and create additional cap space, but it will affect future years.

Maybe you weren't around in the late 90's. There have been many years the Cowboys were unable to sign the big name FA's due to the CAP. They've managed the CAP much better this decade.

-Sign Dak Prescott to a long term deal.
-Lower Tyrone Crawfords salary to $4 million or cut him outright and save $ 8 million.
-Can restructure Martin and DLaw if need be, prefer not to.
-Leave Tyron Smiths contract alone.
-Do not touch Amari Cooper's contract for the 1st 2 years as there is a fees-able out afterwards.
-If we got Jamal Adams, Xavier Woods would not need to be on the books but I doubt Adams happens.
-There will be some lower roster players that will be churned and also their salaries.

Unless there is a player you decide to sign why worry about creating cap space
Signing Dak will create some cap space
You can restructure guys but unless you want to sign a clowney type contract then I don’t see the point

To create CAP space, which is what the OP asked.

This isn't a predictor of what they will do, more so what they should do.

Blake Bell shouldn't even be a consideration. He is easily the 2nd best tight end on the team, and the best blocker of the group.

Have you joined the Dalton Darksiders?

I'm pretty sure you can't cut someone after tagging them.
