I will admit, I'm concerned. To be able to agree, and get the language figured out on a long term (4 or 5 year) with offsets, bonuses, etc written in - takes time. Previews, reviews etc.
If they do not get a deal done, I will be very disappointed. Both sides have been posturing for well over a year now. They have used up Daks cheap 4 year original contract.
Both sides will play the blame game if something is not agreed to, and I will lay it 75%/25% at the Cowboys feet.
Will have another year of this B.S. and Jerry will lose his last window for a title, before old age and health kicks in.
Very. Disappointing.
Get a deal ****** done !

I can understand if Dak has the mentality of betting on himself, like he did last off-season.

man, I wouldn’t risk it with everything going on with covid and the chances that this upcoming season gets derailed somehow.

100%.....playing a dangerous game

Not sure many remember or know this but 2015 Dez signed his deal July 15 just hours before the deadline. So yes, it can go right down to the final hours.

Dak deserves every penny he can get, and I don’t begrudge him his foot-dragging on this second contract. But I will say that the constant reminder that this is just a business to our players or to our team leader takes a lot of the enthusiasm I once had for this group of players way down.

Zeke’s holdout was worse in that regard, as it was a year early and a huge distraction that contributed to the disappointing 2019 season.

To Dak’s credit, he’s signed his franchise tender. But the whole thing just makes me care a lot less whether this particular group of players gets their title shot. I mean, I want the titles because I’m a fan, but this group of guys—the offensive team leaders, at least—have made their priorities really clear. It’s kind of a bummer.

That's how I feel as well. I too don't begrudge these guys getting as much money as I can get. However when I think of Michael Irvin's brief hold out before the 1992 season, or emmitt Smith during training camp and the first two games of the 1993 season, while I was worried, I also knew these guys were Cowboys at heart and made their desire known that they would like to be Cowboys for life. So perhaps they gave in a little bit with the negotiations, possibly making more for another team, yes, but there were still going to get stupid money (by the early 90s standards) while remaining a cowboy.

And here Dak has been offered a disproportionate sum of money, compared to the prorated amount Aikman, Irvin, and Smith received in the early 1990s, and yet that's still not enough for this guy?

Disappointing, but it will make it easier for this fan to see the Dallas Cowboys move on from Dak Prescott. The Dallas organization did their part and offering a more than fair contract.

With that being said, I don't know what Dak can do to "win you over" in this situation. There are two sides to the negotiation, so I don't think its fair to expect Dak to sign a contract he and his agent feel is undervalued just so the fans can feel good about it. Maybe if the Zeke thing didn't happen, you wouldn't feel this way, but Dak did everything sports fans ask players to do and its not enough.

1. Humble himself-check
2. Answer the call during "next man up" situation- check
3. Perform similarly or better than his peers -check
4. Wait til his contract, which he had almost no leverage in negotiating the first time, runs out- check
5. Participate in good faith negotiations along the way-check
6. Sign franchise tender, with no signs of holding out or missing workouts- check
7. Side with management on controversial issues-check
8. Always available and has played through injury-check

I'm fine if the next discussion is to inform him of the unusually high percentage of snaps Dalton will be receiving during camp.

Going to be a long 48 hours.
Hate to disappoint balty but an agreement doesn't have to be made by July 15th being he's tagged. This could easily resume after the 2020 season. IF there even is one.

It's stupid, worthless, and meaningless because you don't agree with it. Who would have guessed.

But what it shows is that with a 48 hour deadline the sides are not even speaking. To me, this ACTION speaks volumes.
You haven't been paying attention much lately have you. Stephen does deals at deadlines.

Can't believe Dak doesn't want to be here long-term.

Dak wasn't even 3 years old the last time the Cowboys played in a championship game, and the same guys have been running the show ever since.

If I could get paid AND keep my options open, I'd do it.

The Joneses believe deadlines make deals. This always struck me as an 11th hour negotiation anyway. However, if a deal isn’t reached, I put the odds at Dak being signed longterm at 50/50.

Deadlines don't make deals when Robin thinks he's Superman!

If a deal isn't done I will be very surprised and will lose a lot of respect for Dak.
I don't think Dak has indicated in any way he doesn't want to be with the team long term, I think he is just trying to ensure that if he is his contract will stay reasonably current with market prices.
