He said if it was 5 years. If it was, then I agree it was crap and he shouldn't have signed.

I think the offer was 5 years and supposedly Dak wanted 4. The reason for 5 is cap hit related. Put it this way. The exact same deal as Wentz on a new contract is worse for the Cowboys than it is for the Eagles. The cap hits would be higher for the Cowboys. They have to think about that.

This is pretty much the same deal that was rumored to be on the table since like March or April. I'm very skeptical about this story, only because the deal has been there forever. How then can there have been no time? I think Dak and CAA were never going to sign that deal and this is simply a PR story to help Dak in the upcoming season.

I don't buy it but whatever, no deal. Dak plays on the Tag.
Maybe Dak panicked, but too late.

Right. But a longer commitment means more should be guaranteed.

Such a blunder by the front office.

I see us entering QB purgatory again after this season. I thought Jerry had learned that lesson already.

LOL. Remember years ago Ricky Williams signed a big incentive laden contract and he DID get hurt? I'm not happy he got hurt but the man did believe in himself.

And the damage control begins...

At the end of the day, I hope that the media calls it how it is (doubtful).
Dak wasn’t satisfied with a deal that was commensurate to his value.

This kid really done goofed.
Sounds like the Cowboys goofed offering him the deal he wanted too late. Bunch of idiots....

Will Dak regret not signing a contract. Or will he just have the mindset, to just go play and prove he deserves more.

We know Jerry will not have to worry about buyers remorse, as there is no money back guarantee. If Dak fails.
However will he regret next year he didn’t do the 4 year deal instead of Dak balls out and deserves a higher deal next year.
But I think Jerry would be happy with that, as Dak did prove himself, even more so. And the team has their QB for years to come.

I think playing on the tag is the right thing. I do not see it causing any damage for long term negotiations come next year.

Not one thing I read said that deal was offered at the last minute or that it was not the deal already on the table we heard about. They do however say Dak decided to get involved at the last second, they could have began negotiating what happened at the end, i don't know, even yesterday.

Could be wrong of course, but I see nothing to indicate that yet... but by all means assume away if it makes you feel better.

Either way your bunch of idiots statement should include Dak and his agent.

Will the Cowboys be willing to do a 4-year deal next year? From the reporting it sounds like they won't even consider 4 years.
