Dak Prescott Almost agreed to new contract before deadline

That's a deal good for both sides. Bad move for the Cowboys wait until the 11th hour to get that out there. I really thought they should have offered him $100MM guaranteed for 4 years months ago. Now they are either going to pay mightily to keep him next year or just let him go.

This is pretty much the same deal that was rumored to be on the table since like March or April. I'm very skeptical about this story, only because the deal has been there forever. How then can there have been no time? I think Dak and CAA were never going to sign that deal and this is simply a PR story to help Dak in the upcoming season.

I don't buy it but whatever, no deal. Dak plays on the Tag.

50 million signing bonus and is it plus another 70 in 2 years. Does that add up to 120 million in 2 years or is it 50 up front and 20 over the next 2 years. The 120 sound more like it. In 2 years, that’s a lot of money and couldn’t get it done in time. This sound like BS to me. He could have hit his speed dial to JJ at 3:59 and said I will take it. If any of this is even partially true then if he don’t fire his agent then he needs to wear one of those big helmets around or he had already taken to many hits to the head. I knew his agent had screwed him around.

That’s all on Dak and his agent that already makes 28 million a year anyways. He was probly doing something else.

$33-35M avg. annual, with $110M guaranteed is crap based on the Goff/Wentz deals, especially if it's 5 years. Looks like Dak was about to give in, because I really think he wants to be here long term. Oh well, now we're going to see how Dak looks with McCarthy, and either pay huge money if there's success, or move on.

iu
WHATS DONE IS DONE. Dak will regret this.

The problem is the QBs we all like to compare him to got signed with rookie years left on their contracts. Making their future cap hits manageable. Paying Dak the same on a new contract over 4 years makes it a much worse deal for the Cowboys. Paying him more if the team has success would eliminate all future success because the cap hits would be through the roof.

Bs.

He doesn't want to be here. He wants money and that is it. Doesn't care where he plays.

In one half, Matt Stafford makes more money than Dak Prescott did in an entire season. In 3 games, Matt Stafford made as much money as Dak did his first 4 years in the NFL.

Dak was the 77th highest paid QB in the NFL, on average, over the course of his first 4 seasons.

So yes, yes, Dak does want to be fairly compensated...including not signing beyond the standard 4 year contract.

He said if it was 5 years. If it was, then I agree it was crap and he shouldn't have signed.
