Although he made one great point you guys are missing.

Jerry usually caves and overpays or at least comes close to giving into a players' demands. He did it with Elliott, he did it with Lawrence, he did it with Bryant, he made Martin the highest paid OG, he made Smith the highest paid OT, he made Frederick the highest paid OC.......... he probably overpaid Crawford, he likely overpaid J Smith. Cooper's deal is fair but he's one of the Top 3 highest paid WRs too. If he wants to keep you, he pays market or more.

So I am not buying any spin coming from Dak's camp that they didn't give Dak a fair (or greater) contract. Dak and his boys dug in, they wouldn't budge, and the deadline came and went.

I know we don't need another Dak thread but Dak brings up some interesting points

-Dak may not have been demanding Mahommes money but it was pretty darn close

-Jerry has always been reasonable in contract negotiations and has always more or less overpaid. Prescott and the new agent was being unreasonable

-The new contract offered by Dallas would've made him the second highest paid qb with over 80 million guaranteed

-The media is currently bashing the dallas cowboys on this but how come no one is reporting what Dak's demands where. That's a very good point by Bayless

-This isn't a kirk cousins deal because Dallas did offer Dak a fair deal, unlike Washington. Dak just didn't want it

I'm left with two things here

1. Does Dak even want to play here anymore? Valid question

2. Why is Jerry the villain all of a sudden, considering in their history they have always signed the player they wanted or needed?

I like Prescott, but several of his fans have to ask themselves, are you a fan of the Dallas Cowboys or a fan of Dak Prescott because his demands are literally detrimental to the team and its success in the future.

He speaks as though Dak is doing the negotiation himself.

If Dak was demanding Mahomes money, why was he trying to get the deal done directly at the deadline for a fraction of Mahomes money?

Mahomes money wasn't ever on the table, even in video games.
He wasn't. He would've "tried" a couple days ago if he was really trying to get a deal done.

me thinks the agent was pushing for it more than Dak, and Dak kinda found himself in a corner. Now he must live with the potential consequences come 2021. Unfortunately, we will also be forced to find another QB in free agency and the draft next offseason. Thanks to this SNAFU. ALL SIDES MADE MISTAKES. The agent did no favors to Dak or himself. If anyone thinks for 1 hot second Jerry and Stevie will forget this, they just have a short term memory issue lol...THEY WON'T FORGET. Mark this down...next year when it comes time to make a deal, they wont budge. HE WILL BE GONE. In fact, MAYBE that was his plan all along. It almost looks bipolar, how Dak went about this. Bizarre...or passive aggressive.
When you hire an agent who is well known to hold team's hostage, this is what you get. Dak placed himself in that corner.

Skip is gonna spin it one way or the other regardless of what we do so I don’t put much stock in what he says. On the other hand pretty much all of the media coverage around this is going to be bad regardless. It’s either I can’t believe they payed Dak that much or I can’t believe they didn’t pay him.

Him on a 1 year deal is perfect for us IMO, if he has another year like last year or better. He gets payed, If he doesn’t and we want to move on we’re not on the hook for 100mill

You use fraction as if it is a small fraction when it is more like 95%

what he wants and what the market is, were clearly 2 different things. He wasnt worth 38-40 per. LOVE DAK...That is my guy,I support him, but if that is true, they were out of bounds.

He said it could have been up to 42 million a year he wanted.

You are right. I like Dak and wanted to resign him but there has to be a price point that you cant go past. My guess it was around 35-36 a year for Jerry. And really thats probably too much but I think we all could have lived with.

Dak's demands were unreasonable.

In any case, given Dak's place among NFL Qbs, it was a very fair deal. I think Dak is looking for some retro pay for the past 4 years. Its the only reason I can think he wants more. I think Todd France gave him some bad advice last year letting him play for 2 million, and he's giving Dak some self-serving advice trying to save face.
I think Dak is trying to build in a safety net against the cap going down due to the pandemic.

If our players get hit with a virus and we end up not winning..

does this extend another year of Daks Tag to see if he is still the "guy"?

I hope it doesn't but it could be part of Dak's strategy.

all the agents have to be thinking contingency clauses to protect their players going forward.

Not sure exactly how you do that but these guys are creative.

The players are taking big risk to their careers playing under these conditions.

I would bet things like disability policy premiums for policies against salary loss are coming into contract talks.

Those policies are not cheap and I doubt a player will be footing the bill.

The owner and the contract will have to prop that up.

I agree, if he fires France then he could win back some support of the fans who are disappointed on how this was handled, even going back to last year when he turned down that offer. This all could have been water under the bridge a year ago.

What Skip and Shannon are saying, they are saying Dak was offered more or less 35 million, which would make him close to around the second highest player behind PM. However that was not accepted. He wants close to 38-40 with a 4 year deal.
Skip nailed it. The blame is squarely on Dak and his agent . They have either misled him for more than a year , or he is just delusional about his self worth and is surrounded by Yes people who are telling him how elite he is. He is not in that category unfortunately , otherwise we would have won more games with him .

No one is blaming Dak's agent and most of the media is blaming jerry , which is crazy.

Winning one more game is worth crippling our cap for, to you?

Just say you dont trust the front office’s ability to find a new QB and ill understand it more.

Mark Sanchez got his team to multiple Championship games with his play. It means nothing in the grand scheme of things.

The titans made a mistake paying Tannehill for the same reason. You will see.
Exactly ,
plus , if Dak was so elite , why did the NFL players vote him out of the top 100 ??

Beyond nuts.

I'm not a Jerry fan by any stretch of anyone's imagination, but I cannot comprehend how anyone would perceive this clusterfudge as on Jerry.
