Are the clowns like Cowerd ever going to give the Prescott crap a rest? I thought we'd catch a break after the deal didn't happen but they are just pathetic at creating anything but the same ole same ole.

They know people will eat it up, so they keep spewing it out. It's all tabloid level stuff, but there are a lot of tabloid level fans.

The majority here would be shocked if they DIDN'T take a Qb in the first couple rounds.........it just follows the natural progression of everything we've seen and predicted for the last 2 years
It will be trending, as more teams start following this lead at the QB position.
No more just next man up gets payed,, you cant beat the teams you need to beat than its franchise tag, and sale out in the draft to move up to acquire the next man up.
FA QBs like Dalton and Newton will start making more money,, Dalton just happened to fall into the learning curve and we got him on the cheap, before the entire landscape changes at how NFL franchises deal with run away cap for average franchise QBs in this league.

I hear you but I like Colin C. At least he can be interesting / insightful at times.

BTW I don't have any inside information but at least outwardly it would not appear that Big Mike is running around screaming for Dak. McCarthy knows QBs. That means something. I still like Dak but it is very curious.
He has the nicest assistant in Taylor.

And she surprises me sometimes with her out of the box observations.

Do not know if she comes up with her viewpoints or her writer/researchers do.

But she looks good on camera. Actually, the more mature compared to Colin.

It obviously depends on if the Cowboys work something out with Dak. If they don't a QB becomes a major priority. If they do, I still would expect the Cowboys to draft a QB, but more likely 4th or 5th round.
I would like to see the formula for each sports channel on how much Cowboys they have to talk and the breakdown on the negative and positive. They are the only team that has to have a certain % of negative to appease those anti fans.

Back when he was on NFLN, I could predict Marshall Faulk's sentences when the Cowboys or Romo would come up. He was actually easier than Irvin to predict, then you had Sapp over there next to Irvin going "yeah, what he said", eyes wide like he'd seen a spider.

But the worst are the radio sports talks shows because there is a formula and it is by design. Next time you listen to one that is not a audio from a visual broadcast, because they can't get away with it, notice the repetition of what's said. There isn't enough to cover 4 hours without repetition so they will either repeat themselves or each other.

LOL, and it's not enough we do it, we have to bring more of it in.

I thought we had set the record with Romo talk but I do believe a new record has been set. We've wasted more minutes talking about Prescott than he's been alive.

What's funny about this one is that coaches do not talk to players going through a contract negotiation, they stay as far away from that as they can to retain their position as the player's coach and not management. That was one of the problems Paul Brown and George Halas had with some of their players. They'd beat them down, back before FA, and the try to coach them. Paul Brown was the reason that Jim Brown hung them up early.

Can you imagine the Cowboys if Schramm had been their coach? Landry stayed as far away from that part of it as he could. Johnson knew to stay away form Emmitt during that negotiation, he didn't go to Emmitt after going 0-2, he went to Booger.

Mm is a real hc, and a real hc is in charge and decides when and if he is going to reach out to players

He’s not beholden to them and I think he’s going to change the culture In a very positive way here...I suspect this is more a factor of that then not needing dak
Hmmm.

And if you were negotiating for the highest paid contract as Dak is..

and your boss lost his job and the new boss did not call you meanwhile he is in the office hiring and letting guys go..

and your phone never rings with the new boss..maybe you just hear from your position coach Moore..

how would you feel?

Not very secure. That's for sure.

All of the good will and slack you once had has been erased.

We all have been thru staff changes at work.

We know the water cooler and lunchroom buzz in these situations.

Dak has a completely different reality right now. We will see if he can meet expectations.

I hope he can but No doubt there is a plan B already in place.

Me..I just think that Dak does not get a 2nd Tag at $38+ mil/ yr in 2021.

Financially..with the cap being cut..no way.

Will Dak take less?

This the same dude who said Aaron Rodgers was the reason for his success before he was hired. This dude changes his garbage opinion every week.

Your thread is misleading. He isn't saying Dak isn't needed to have a good QB, he's saying that unlike Dak's relationship with Garrett, McCarthy doesn't need Dak for money (he already has it), or legacy (he's already won a Super Bowl) or to hold on to his job (he has a new 5 year contract). Herd just said the relationship with Dak isn't currently the same as it was with Garrett and Dak because both guys needed each other, and that now the relationship is more tilted toward Dak needing McCarthy. He also said that could change as the season goes on.

As for McCarthy not calling Dak until a week after he agreed to coach the Cowboys, that's hardly proof of anything. Maybe McCarthy didn't think it was that important, but that's not the only possible explanation. It may also be he felt his first priority was to build his coaching staff, or maybe he felt there was no rush, or maybe he was reluctant to start a communication with a player in a tough contract negotiation, maybe he had the flu or was on vacation. The right explanation isn't always the one most akin to a soap opera.
Silence has it's own message.

Dak has been told by his agent not to discuss anything with ownership.

And while coaching is coaching..Big Mike clearly reps ownership.

So McCarthy probably was instructed to not talk until July 15.

Now that has come and gone and things should change.

At least I hope so.

I seriously doubt McCarthy would even have been hired if he hadn't convinced the Jonses that he genuinely liked Dak as a player.

I also think the only reason Mike didn't talk to Dak when he was hired was Dak trying to play hardball because of his contract situation.

more than likely, mac's not calling had more to do with a subtle suggestion from the fo that any comments suggesting just how much he looked forward to working with dak would just further dak and his agent's demands for more money. didn't want dak thinking he was irreplaceable. if i had been the man who hired mac, that's what i would have told him. don't say anything that dak would perceive as increasing his leverage.

Farve didn't intimidate McCarthy. Neither did Rodgers.

So do you honestly think a bus driver like Dak can?

He must be an idiot if he thinks McCarthy doesn’t need a good QB. Aaron Rodgers help make him a successful HC. QBs make or break a head coach it’s always been that way. McCarthy’s deteriorating relationship with Aaron Rodgers contributed to him being fired.

As a head coach McCarthy has had 2 Hall of Fame QBs. Don’t give me this crap that he doesn’t need Dak and could have success with just any QB. McCarthy isn’t just in this for the money, he loves coaching and has one of the most prestigious coaching jobs in all of sports. If he didn’t need Dak he wouldn’t have been franchised for $31 million and the Cowboys would have gone with Dalton. So McCarthy didn’t call Dak for 10 days after he took the job because he doesn’t need him and wanted to fracture his relationship with him? lol You guys need to stop posting videos of Cowherd he no flipping clue what he’s talking about.

good he is right.

u want to kill any chance of ur team winning a super bowl u bow down and cave to demands of a above average qb and convince urself he is a franchise qb. that is the qb trap that so many teams fall into because of the important of the position.

i hope the cowboys keep playing hard ball with dak because no matter what they will be better off in the long term.
