4th down play shows Cowboys predictability remains

Watching the analysis of the 4th and 3 play, it's evident that teams know our tendencies because the Safety knew seemed to decipher the route for Lamb and was able to get to the right location to prevent the 1st down.
That goes to Moore for not changing things up and not updating the routes.
But, if Dak leads Lamb instead of causing him to stop his momentum by throwing the ball to his mid section, he may have been able to get the 1st down.

The stop had nothing to do with them predicting the play, and everything to do with the fact that Schultz didn't get his route deep enough.

Schultz goes another 2 yards, it doesn't matter if the safety knows the play is coming or not.

Shultz cleared enough beyond the 5 yard line for Lamb to squeeze by but he ran too shallow. But my point is the Safety was able to diagnose the play fairly easy.

Yeah but you have no idea what defense was called, what offensive call was made, what the S was thinking and what his responsibilities were. This thread topic is complete hearsay there’s no fact here to discuss, just arbitrary opinions.

Terrible playcall if it relied on a TE who never plays and a rookie playing his first game to execute perfectly. Put your players in position to succeed. The coaches need to understand the situation and the personnel they have available. If that's too much to ask for in that situation for inexperienced players then kick the FG and live for another possession.

I saw Dan Orlovsky on ESPN say he is a friend of Kellen's and he said he was going to call him and rail on him for not putting in more pre-snap motion. He said we were the worst in the league at it and he doesn't understand why we don't do it more because it helps confuse defenses.

For me that was a little disconcerting.

I would’ve run—roll Dak out with the pitch option to Pollard, or misdirection. Hindsight. Coulda shoulda woulda...

While I wasn’t thrilled with the team’s output, I attribute the loss mostly to our OL injuries and lack of continuity. We were playing a very good team with an innovative young coach, opening a new stadium in a major market. We lost by THREE POINTS, and would have probably won if not for two plays.

Now if we lose to Atlanta...

Zoners don’t need any of that information to make a decision they are confident in.

I've never seen us run that particular play on 4th down. I personally think the execution of the play is what was wrong. The Patriots have ran that play a million times to perfection. Difference is execution.

It was certainly a bad call. Why put a clutch play like that on a rookie? But I also think that the Rams knew that play was coming. The safety went around all of where the blocking was to take place and went exactly to where Lamb was.

We have been cursed with Garrett's playbook for so long. Removing his ineptitude will take a year to remove and full works of training camp.

The route was too shallow. Now if dak could hit him in stride lamb could overcome it. But being so shallow and having to stop will rarely work. Dalton could have helped by running deeper as well but ultimately it was having lamb stop with 2yards to go that killed the play.

I hope Kellen Moore is taking advice from people like MM and not Orlovsky when it comes to running an NFL offense. Orlovsky wasn't a decent QB and is a horrible analyst.

That is NOT a good sign.
