When Dak’s not high off pain pills, first order of business: find a new agent. I know Dak has a part in discussing what he wants in terms of money, years, etc. But the agent takes a lot of that into consideration, and I think Mr. France is... how should I put this in a way that won’t be bleeped?

bottom line, Todd France needs to be fired.

I would fire him if I was Dak. No doubt about it.

I know how my stomach felt when I saw the play.

Can't imagine how France felt?

And yeah I know it is ultimately the player's decision but I couldn't imagine how I would feel if I was France.

Dak and his agent did everything right except meet in the middle and give the team some concessions for cap purposes at the end to get it done. He could have had the security of a long term deal done during either of the past two off seasons but played hardball. He bet on himself one too many times for a few extra dollars and the chance at another payday one year earlier. Doubt he thinks it was worth it right now. He may be the Dallas QB for many years to come but this injury ultimately will cost him a bunch of money. No way they give him the deal they were talking about without seeing him play first and I highly doubt there would be a free agent market for him except at a highly reduced rate.

It’s really hard to justify not signing a deal when it wasn’t like the numbers were far apart. If the hold up was actually 4 vs 5 years and not AAV it makes little sense. Yes you get out of the deal a year early. Maybe the contracts explode in that time and his 5th year could be worth a significant amount more than on this deal. But you are risking 100+ million to get 10 million. In the unlikely event you suffer a career ending injury that gamble just isn’t worth it. That’s not even factoring in how Covid might impact the salary cap and future salaries going forward. I’m sure he would have preferred 4 years but if they were giving concessions on the rest of the deal it’s a poor decision to not sign. That’s probably why they were scrambling at the deadline to try and get something done.
