A very slightly different injury and Dak is in an Alex Smith’s situation.

As it turns out, he lost 3/4 of a season in his prime but will overall be fine.

I was just curious. How long did your rehab take and did you make a full recovery?
Rehab took about 6 months and I did full recovery. I had to tape my ankle afterwards just to give it support and I think also for psychological reasons. The contrast therapy that the trainer may me do to get the swollen down was extremely difficult at first mainly because the cold water was effecting my big toe due to having blood collecting underneath the toe nail.Dak has all the best care in the world and is a far better athlete than I cloud ever dream of being.

JJ is a Snake Oil salesman.....JGoff and CWentz got deals before 1st contract ended....Dak should have never been in this position. Wentz got hurt but is with guaranteed money. Goff stanked in 1st year (Jeff Fisher issue)….but came out alright. Dak been stuck with coaching issues and a bad D......JJ showed no love.

Tennessee gave Tannehill a safer deal than Dak.

Well, There ya go! The future looks bright for Dak then! I wonder if he has enough time to be ready for the next season?

You look on twitter & on the media you see players and fans that Jerry better pay Dak now.

As if its Jerry's fault Dak didn't sign a long term contract. Like the Cowboys didn't offer him a 5 year deal making north of 37 million a year & 110 + million in guarantees.

Reports are week 1 last year both sides agreed to a verbal "handshake" deal and it was Dak & his agent that backed out of that deal.

Dak & his agent bet on themselves & now it looks like they lost. I wish Dak didn't get hurt. I think that is obvious nobody wanted that but now that he did this should help out the Cowboys.

Is that fair? Yes! Absolutely its fair. And Jerry & the Cowboys should use this injury to their advantage.

Just like Dak was using the franchise tag to his advantage. Dak had no issue holding the Cowboys franchise hostage. "this is just business". How many times did we hear that.

Well now Cowboys should be in the driver's seat & they should play hardball. They should have a backup plan going into the off-season. A plan that lets Dak test the market because no team is paying Dak 40 million a year... in a year the cap shrinks. Not after this injury. By the time Dak can do football stuff, free agency will have already began. Teams will be spending cap & I cannot see teams paying out a massive contract when they do not even know the health of Dak.

My hope is Dalton plays good & wants to stay in Dallas. Doesn't mind being a backup. Dallas can get Dak on a cheap 2 or 3 year deal to prove he is healthy.

But what Dallas doesnt need to do is over pay him now because they should have zero guilt on Dak getting injured. The game Dak & his agent played can backfire and it did. And Cowboys should reep the rewards of it backfiring because if it played out Dak's way, they had all intentions of reaping those rewards.
JJ doesn't owe Dak a dam thing....NOTHING! JJ drafted Dak in the 4th rd. I'm sure JJ had a hand in Dak starting for the Cowboys when Romo came off the injury list. JJ is paying Dak $31 plus million dollars this year for 5 games, which equates to over $6 million dollars a game. I'd say JJ has done a hell of a lot more for Dak, than what Dak has done for the Cowboys. People are pissed off because Dak wasn't able to drag JJ through the mud and weasel a long term $100 plus million dollar contract from the Cowboys. Yes, JJ owes Dak nothing beyond this season so get use to it all you football experts.

Dak doesn't have to prove anything anymore. I think either way we get a new 4 or 5 year deal coming up.

Dak still has the exact same amount of leverage, because it's not a career-altering injury. Literally nothing has changed.

There is no backup plan that will influence Dak's negotiations, because there is no comparable player who is going to be available.

It's unclear if Dak ever *wanted* an extension/contract here. Always looked like Dak was intent on hitting free agency. May still be.

Didn't take a contract when scheduled for: 2mil when 3 years away from free agency.
Didn't take a contract when scheduled for: 32mil when 2 years away from free agency.

Why take a contract when scheduled for: 38mil when 1 year away from free agency?

No one really knows what was offered or turned down
There were reports the team waited to long too
The bottom line is he can’t sign him right now if he wanted to. That ship has sailed
But jerry will certainly be trying as soon as he can and he should

The Chargers get him for 5 years on a rookie deal..
I would not play this Dak game.. QBs are easier then ever to find. Stop settling for mediocre and paying mediocre elite QB money.

I tend to think the QB market is a bubble. We signed a starting caliber QB for 3 mil. We drafted a starting caliber QB in the 4th round.

Colleges are putting out better QBs, while the NFL is protecting them better, medicine is fixing and maintaining them better, and they're playing well later in their careers.

Supply is up. Demand is the same. Prices should be going down. But they're still going up.

Bubble.

The Joneses will pay him. They have even paid and kept people they shouldn't have.
They are kind of like the Browns in their sentimentality but they have money.
I’m not so sure about that. I see what you’re saying but the Jones boys have been more prone to sign players they shouldn’t while letting the better players walk. IMO, they should sign Dak.

JJ has offered a ton of money to Dak for a long term deal. He would be the highest paid player in Cowboys history if he accepted the offer. I have plenty of problems with Jerry Joes, but Dak turning down a record contract from the Cowboys is on the player.

Personal responsibility for ones actions is a real thing.
