Would Cowboys trade Amari Cooper?

I would get rid of everyone and rebuild. This team is not a winner and now that they are paid they are mailing it in.

You don't lock down rosters that provide mediocrity and thats what we have done.

I keep Zach Martin. Everyone else can go.

No way in hell I'm trading Cooper for a 2..especially not a late 2..get out of here..

A late 1, yes, I probably pull the trigger..I'll roll w lamb, Gallup, Wilson, and a mid round pick next year
Wouod you trade Cooper and a 3rd for a first? Cooper and a 4th for a first seems about right. That would probably be my floor.

Get a 2 and a 5 and you're almost salvaging the original mistake, which facilitated the second mistake...entirely.

I would absolutely consider trading him for the right price. Even with his nagging injuries he has been productive enough to garner some interest.

The emergence of Lamb and the potential of Gallup and Noah and Cedrick make him an asset we can move now for the right price imo

Micheal Gallup could get u a 1st and 2nd possibly. Pats even the Packers could bite on that

What could they get for Cooper? 20M for a WR is more than a lot of teams are going to pay and he's not a top 5 WR. Too many good WR's coming out in the draft each year and he hasn't removed that inconsistent label yet.

They need to do something because a 35M QB, 15M RB and 20M WR is not a good idea.

Would absolutely do this, even for a 2nd round pick. After all, they couldn't screw up a 2nd round pick in the draft, could they??

Did you read the article? $8 million cost and $12 million savings next year.

It's amazing how many people just look at the $100 million contract and don't actually understand how the contract was written. I've probably pointed this out two dozen times in the last few months and people still don't get it.

And yes, I'd move him for a 1st.

like it's never been brought up before?

to debate is futile...

Jerry likes his overpriced decoy receivers

As soon as he let one go he bought another.

Then feel free to see your way out of this thread, there's the door.

From PFT, I thought this might make for some good conversation and debate:

The Cowboys seem to be in fire sale mode, particularly in the midst of a “this is fine” fire on the defensive side of the ball. Here’s the question: Would they trade offensive players, too?

There’s one name to wonder about as the trade deadline approaches, in our view. Receiver Amari Cooper.

Yes, the Cowboys gave up a first-round pick to get him two years ago. Yes, they gave him a new contract after the 2019 season ended.

But consider these facts. First, CeeDee Lamb fell into their laps after Cooper re-signed. Second, Michael Gallup is signed through 2021 to a bargain-basement rookie deal. Third, Cedrick Wilson is pretty damn good. Fourth, with Dak gone for the rest of the season, Cooper becomes a luxury the Cowboys don’t need.

Even though Cooper signed a five-year, $100 million contract, it’s really a two-year, $40 million deal. If someone would offer them a first-rounder for Cooper right now (last year, Mohamed Sanu brought in a second-round pick at the deadline), the Cowboys would be crazy to say no.

“But what about the cap consequences?” you may ask. Trading Cooper would trigger an $8 million charge in 2021, but it would be offset by avoiding $20 million in cash and cap space — creating a $12 million net-cap gain for the Cowboys in 2021.

So any contending team out there looking for a high-end receiver (like the Packers), the window could be open to snatch Cooper from the Cowboys.

I'd do it if the offer was out there.

I hate when people talk about what the Cowboys gave up to get him - that's a sunk cost and not a reason keep him if it makes sense to move him.

I would trade him for a first round pick but I think if we move on from Cooper we might as well tell Dak we are going to draft a quarterback and your services are no longer needed.

So a rookie who may be a bust is a service needed. lol.

You guys moan about "culture" all the time.

The first order of business is getting rid of guys that couldnt care less about winning or losing.

The guy is a decent receiver from a productivity standpoint....

But if you can get a premium pick plus 20M salary relief....that's TWO potential starters on defense while we still run three solid WR out there.

It's such a no brainer itll never happen.

At this point, given the team's strengths, weaknesses, and cap situation?

I think I would too.

  1. We're strong at receiver
  2. Have plenty of draft needs
  3. Have big contract and cap issues
I think getting another 1st next year and getting all of that money off of the cap helps more.

I'll take a 2nd and a throw in.

Dont forget the salary relief allows us to go get a stud FA defensive player, maybe two.
