I have full confidence that Jerry will draft a qb if, when the time comes, the bug of enthusiasm has him in its grips.

:huh::huh::huh: $31M but didn't pay???
In the context of a long term contract that dang near everybody in this thread is speaking on obtuse one.

Good point. Dak made more money this year, on the shelf, then he's made in his entire career, by a lot.
It isn't a good point in the context of what everybody is going back and forth about which is a long term contract.

In fact, it's an excellent point and a long term contract not being done is easily the fault of Dak and his representative. Dak isn't getting 40 offered this off season either. I'd put hard money on it but never the less, if a team wants to pay him that, then I think they should sign him and we should draft a QB.

Is it crazy to think the Cowboys could take a quarterback if they have one of the top picks in next spring’s draft? Yes,” Jerry Jones said on 105.3 The Fan in Dallas. “You’re asking me is it crazy to bring the idea up and I’m answering it, yes. We’re playing games here guys, but it’s not the thing to be talking about here at all. You know, Dak is our quarterback.”

Please. He paid Zeke. He paid Tank. He paid freaking Jaylon Smith. But he didnt pay Dak.

This is exactly right. Just because they paid Dak the 31 million doesn’t mean anything about their real level of commitment. He ignores the fact that the Joneses paid other players but not Dak. Or that the 31 million was paid just to evaluate Dak before they made a commitment. Which means they were still not sure. At least, not sure enough about him to pay him.

Truth be told, if we had the #3 pick, I'd be entertaining trade downs with that. If I stayed at #3, I would take Penei Sewell.

Definitely crazy to be talking about it. That's the media "firstest with the mostest" mentality. The social media equivalent of, "I told all you idiots six months ago this is what would happen." Outside this forum it don't change one single thing about your life today. Don't change one single thing about mine. Don't change a thing in attention seeker Uncle Jerry's.

He loves playing you guys like TO...."get your popcorn ready!"

Non factor.

1 - Jets : Trevor Lawrence
2 - Jaguars : Justin Fields

3 is too rich for Wilson, Lance or Trask. Lock up Dak and spend your draft riches on Defense. Give me all of our picks on some straight dogs on defense. Tired of this weak finesse crap.
It's not too rich for either of those 3 at all. If, that is, they prove to be an elite franchise quarterback.

Where do you think Brady, Brees, Wilson, Brees, Rodgers, and others would have been drafted if the league could go back and get a do-over?

lame, ridiculous narratives....get over it Dak dud this to himself..

Its not an excellent point when the discussion is about a long term contract. That's what all these Dak back and forth threads are about so trying to introduce short term contract talk into a long term contract talk thread is again not an excellent point. Its okay that you want to be correct but you're wrong on this one. It happens to us all but some don't know how to handle it.

Amazing what a simple search can accomplish.

Ah, but there's the rub. Sources tell CowboysSI.com that Jets management remains irate about the October leaks regarding negotiations - leaks they blame on the Cowboys front office. We'd contend that the Jets camp and Adams' camp have also been fairly forthcoming with information, but the Jets think what they think.

Jets are full of it.

I know.. And you don’t win Superbowls after you let them take up 14% or more of your cap space.

You just become the fighting Dak’s that can’t win because he needs a lot that

not a fact you can't win.

forgot to tell you, we usually go down the Thursday before and leave Sunday ,we get a couple big houses of 13-14 bedrooms each. we get couple vans , some drive themselves and We fundraise to offset some of the expense,

The league needs a winning Cowboy team simply been too many years of misery and ratings are down.
Jets have a QB(Darnold) and will deal with the Cowboys adding to their pick total for the draft.
Jags is another story as either they win a couple of games or Lawrence refuses to go there i.e. Eli Manning draft and it becomes a 3-way trade.
Never doubt the power of profit in the NFL.....Never!

If you pay a qb that much money who cant take over a game. They wont ever win a super bowl with him. There is a salary cap. That QB better be able to win with less talent.

You're new here so just be informed.....In the Dak world here there is no NFL cap.
Dak is a top 5 NFL Franchise QB and should be awarded the biggest contract for a QB in the NFL.
Dak is GOD...I mean how many Superbowls has he won for us jeez man where you been!!!
Dak fantasy football simply gets goofier by each post!

Understandable.

But our Top-10 QB will end up missing almost 3/4 of the season. If our Top-10 QB was playing right now, the chances of the Cowboys having a Top-10 pick would be pretty slim. Especially with the way the defense has been relatively better (not good, just better) the past two games.

I don't care who the QB is, it is hard to win when the defense is DEAD LAST in the league in rush D. Even after a REALLY respectable showing against Pittsburgh, they have a 137 yard "lead" in most rushing yards given up this year, and are 3rd worst in the league at 5.0 ypc (the worst is 5.2 ypc).

You can take some solace in knowing they are only T-6th worst in the NFL in giving up the most rushing TDs. Unfortunately that is paired with the 2nd most passing TDs given up this year too.

So ya, while I agree a Top-10 QB would not lead to an opportunity to draft so high, this is one of those strange situations where it looks like it may just happen.
You've given great reasons why should draft defense. I agree.
