Personally, I'm gonna give Mr McCarthy some time

He inherited a loaded roster. Our issues this season we’re self-inflicted. From implementing a complicated defense in the middle of a COVID offseason to losing his QB on a designed QB run play to hurting the team bad going for it on 4th downs at least three times when he should not have.

Maybe he does a 180 and turns things around. I hope so. But more time when you’re going in the wrong direction just gets you more lost.

I've seen enough from Mike.

Wanted Urban in January and I still do.
Yup. Ive seen enough to know hes not a leader of men. We went from a guy who was a leader of men but terrible everywhere else to a guy who is good x and o wise but isnt inspiring. Wr cant get it right.

He inherited an 8-8 team.

For the record, I was on-board with replacing JG last season. Specifically because he underdelivered with what I believed was an NFC-contending team in 2019. If we’re being honest, I was in the huge majority believing that team underdelivered.

By most accounts, we had an outstanding draft and a solid VFA offseason. If anything, the 2020 team was deeper and better overall.

So let me ask: what have we seen this season so far to give ANYBODY the impression the arrow in Dallas is pointing up and not down right now? We just were embarrassed on the national stage on the way to getting swept by the *Commanders.* We've got similar or improved talent to a team we (most of us) expected to have a shot at the NFCCG just last season. We’re 3-8 and trending down right now. What are you seeing that you think this looks like improvement?!?

I call it like I see it. I was “meh” on the McCarthy hire, though I didn’t dislike him personally. I’ve been really unimpressed with his team. We’re bad. We lack leadership and don’t really have an identity on either offense or defense. Players don’t stick up for each other. There’s grumbling in the clubhouse, and we’ve seen multiple instances of really, really questionable play calling—big ill-advised risks that were unnecessary and not the kind of routine second-guessing of tough 50-50 calls all coaches have to make.

We’re just not well-coached right now. Maybe that changes in a more normal world next season. I hope so. Right now, though, we’re not seeing it.

There is a reason A Rod quit talking to him. Notice which one is still in Green Bay.

Whether or not I want to get him more time or not there are a few things that I feel...

He has had a season where they could not really install the D like they wanted (offense does not get that excuse since they kept Kellen and his verbiage).
The injuries have been pretty bad this year. I don't care how many times people want to believe that injuries don't matter...they do.
He has flat out made some very bad calls and decisions and it has hurt this team during games. There is no way to defend some of those decisions.

Jerry is not going to get rid of him this in his or after his first year.
This team would have to absolutely quit on him and revolt against him to see Jerry make a change and as much as people may say it or feel it...these players have not quit...yet.

Gonna pass on the criticisms of Mr McCarthy. He inherited a perpetual 8-8 team which has as much to do with the personnel onboard as the coaching. Its not like he inherited a perennial Super Bowl contender.

After the upcoming off season, draft, next year free agents...maybe it'll be more reflective of the man's coaching style. One can hope he assembles the team as he sees fit. Pipe dream maybe given Jerrah's propensity to interfere...one can hope.

Time will tell.

Go Cowboys!

He has the Macro excuses on his side.. No doubt.

What about the micro week to week in game moronic decisions he makes?

What does that have to do with him being dealt a tough hand?

They'll give him the chance, but come on. Give me Rodgers for 12 seasons and odds are I'll win atleast one SuperBowl. It would be like Bellicheck boasting about getting 1 super bowl with Tom Brady, when there was potential for so much more.

And he's known as a playmaker, but gave those duties to someone else. So what exactly does he bring to this team other than XXXL sized clothing?

I got the arrow pointed down for this team and signing Dak is a direct 1 way ticket to mediocreville. They have too many guys under contract and signing Dak just locks this current team down for awhile.

Too many other teams are on the up right now with young QB's on rookie contracts.

Russel Wilson might eventually be able to overcome his contract soon too. They almost have the hard part over with his deal and they will open up a 1 or 2 year window to finally have a team around him.

I get what you're saying. Part of me thinks he figures this is a wasted season anyway, so he's just testing some things out for future reference. Another part of me thinks he's playing a Parcheesi drinking game which Nolan on the sidelines.

I am hopeful that the entire organization saw this season as a lost cause with Dak going down and all the injuries...so they have Mike will to just do what the hell he wants and see what sticks. Seems like that to me to be honest

I'm hoping the entire organization realized we were garbage before Dak went down, and we were garbage all of last season with our starters. "Yes men" and coaches who have seen the game pass them by ages ago are not going to fix this team. Of course, having no GM is an issue, too.

He doesnt even have what he inherited. 1/3 of them are injured and most of out best players.

But he has made some dumb mistakes in going for it. However, I applaud the aggression.

I dont think starting Dalton over Gilbert is dumb.

right..MM inherited a perpetual 8-8 team and makes them 3-8 so far...much can be traced to exceptionally poor play calls especially on 4th down..not once or twice or even three times...but consistent STUPID...and then

he has audacity to say they were real good calls....you cannot improve on STUPID...it is what it is

Other teams switched defenses this year and had success. This team was pretty awful even before the injuries. I'm not buying the excuses this year.

A) We have no choice as he will not be fired and B) I think he deserves some more time but C) his decision making is a concern I have.

However, D) I have no idea what his job entails and how he has to deal with possible interference from management is the major reason.

I do not know the level of participation from Booger but I was surprised when he said every game plan gets run by him before the game. Is this usual and customary, is that a job of GM's?

I will say this, I was on board and he was one of my top 2's, the other went to WAS. I am having second thoughts on that now.

In the Sky Sports (European station) coverage of the Thanksgiving games the studio analysts commented that Jerry probably asked MM to take risks.

That would certainly be in character, he loves risks. I think he also realizes his D couldn't stop a bunch of angry old ladies at a tent sale so on the O side, balls to the wall.

Why would anyone give this guy time? Just because he lost his Starting QB, Left tackle, right tackle, starting left tackle's replacement, right guard who moved to right tackle, DT, TE, and had no offseason to spend with his team is no excuse.

That’s pretty much how I see it. Although I’m torn on letting a franchise QB walk just because we’ve messed up our roster management in the trenches. But you might be right that we’re better ripping off the bandaid and rebuilding with all of our resources available.
