I will also add LVE wiffing on a tackle is a very common thing. They both need to go.

Lol and that's not even the worst play. Remember against Cleveland when this joker face masked a runner that was already tackled?

This guy's head is clearly elsewhere. Another Cowboy more worried about his own brand than the Star on his helmet.
…..you got the tape on LVE against Ravens?

Did a Bengal OL spew out "Easy Money" after LVE took himself out of position or when SLee got trucked? Jaylon Smith has company, except when the criticism comes.

Looks like Jaylon saw the run play and thought he had a pathway to meet the ball carrier but because the lineman met him, he went back to his original spot, not thinking that the rb will be skinny enough to actually run in that middle.

Also, I noticed LVE going in that same hole and not taking on the FB. If he had done that, then the back would have bounced outside.

There is no defending this at all. You keep your head forward and look for the ball carrier, you dont turn your back assuming and hoping it goes your way. Cant believe some are actually defending this pathetic play.

Yeah the team gave up 7 points and caused three fumbles. Jaylon led the team with 11 tackles and a fumble recovery. He sucked real bad this game.:facepalm:
It's more like Cincy didn't score more than 7 and gave up four fumbles. The Cowboys played an even worse team than themselves let's not forget that and remember their entire body of work this year.

It's a pathetic play any way you want to look at it, but it's fair to talk through likely assignments, and what went wrong. The more i look at it the more I think Jaylon is the least of the issue on this play. I'm not sure why he filled the A gap so aggressively, but he clearly had B gap responsibility. Tough to say without seeing the whole field, but had he not jumped back to the outside gap that may have been a TD based on the size of that hole.

Randy Gregory somehow takes himself out of the play, despite the fact that the OT isnt even charging off the ball. Woods gives an effort that you could justify cutting him for. Gallimore shows his inexperience, he probably could just power over OGs in college. he really needed to rip under the block and just get his body in the way of the back. Instead he gets pushed out, and actually gets LVE out of the play.

I'm not trying to make excuses for these backers. They need to play better, but this dline play is terrible. Especially when you DTs are this bad your backers are damned if they do, damned if they dont. Priority number 1 should be addressing the front 4.

Man, we've witnessed some bufoonery from the linebacker position this year, but this might take the cake. This play exemplifies the lack of confidence both Jaylon and LVE have displayed this season. Both play with a total lack of instincts and are constantly on skates.

Acho is correct though. If LVE liked to take on contact that hole wouldn't have been there when jaylon spun out to his gap.

Exactly. Lot of focus on Smith and he deserves it but LVE is hot garbage too. He constantly wiffs on tackles. Smith looks like a clown on this play but LVE has to make that tackle and of course he wiffs.

So..... the players are calling out the coaches already....boy....something has got to give this off-season.

The wrong players though. Jaylon is looking stupid out on the field pretty much most games. Now if a player who is busting his butt and not avoiding contact does it, that's different.

Nonsense.

Especially when he's, by far, the worst of the 3, and the mistakes have been exactly the same since 2017.

Yeah, I’ve been seeing that too. I’m not sure if it’s a byproduct of his injury (neck/collarbone) but I see him trying to slip more blocks rather than maintain gap integrity.

Almost as bad as LVE on that Lamar Jackson TD run last week.

Jaylon just isn't an interior LB. Gotta be more hard nosed and willing to take on blockers head on. He's more of a finesse player, and that doesn't work in the interior.

And I don't know that either Jaylon or LVE have good instincts for interior LB's. Their mindset is more on chasing down plays than in plugging gaps and taking on opponent head on. I can see LVE trying, but too often he chooses the wrong gap and gets swept out of the play by all the big bodies.

54 will do ANYTHING to avoid tackling head on. He literally turned his back on the RB and ran away from him. He should be BENCHED.

I can't remember reading your posts before, but you really have some good info. Jaylon is just a complete trainwreck, and since his rookie year LVE hasn't been any better. The difference between the two at this point is Jaylon got paid....so of course he is going to catch more grief. The DT's are just pitiful. I wonder if McCoy would have made any difference.
