lol!

Just thought about it. I have attended many football games in person. Gone to football watching parties. Watched games at sports bars. Read game day threads. Etc.

Not once in my 44 years of being around other fans have I heard:

HEY! Bozos! Stop driving the ball! What the heck are you DOING???

Don't catch that pass!

Why are you not FUMBLING!

Sack my quarterback! Kiiiiiill him!

Oh NOW you discovered how to tackle!

Why did you bat that pass down? The other team would have scored! Gawd!

WHY DON'T YOU FREEZE YOUR KICKER ON EVERY FIELD GOAL ATTEMPT!!!!!!!!

Seriously.
Nice!!!! Yeah, that's an eye opener. Salud!!!!!

I think most get your prospective and like anyone’s I respect it as we all should
Wanting to win can’t be a crazy idea and intentionally losing is sure not a good idea for players
I think some see it was more about the future of the roster and higher drafted talent tends to be better
But I have to respect anyone disgusted by losing even though I’d just as soon have the higher pick than the win

Those things...are phantoms. A hope and promise more often unfulfilled as filled. (As in draft "bust"...happens a lot).

The will to win...can never be taken away. It will sustain you when the chips are down. If you lose your will to win...for whatever reason especially a phantom one...well....that just isn't a good place to be in my book.

Having said all that...and how strong I feel about it...DallasEast has reminded me that there are times you DO lose the battle to win the war. I believe it was Tom Brady who told Fournette "don't score". Well...he tripped himself into the endzone and allowed the other team a game winning drive.

But Brady did that for his will to WIN the game....not LOSE for some phantom possible fairy dust. If Fournette had followed his instructions...it's a WIN.

You don’t get to dictate who are and are not fans.

That’s the issue here. Nobody has a problem with somebody who is glad the cowboys won.

Most people are reacting to being called “non” fans and people saying they’re disgusted simply because we don’t think it helped the cowboys to win a meaningless game against the bengals after sucking eggs all season long.

I will if I want to. If you don't like it tough cookies. It can matter to you or not matter, whatever.

You are just as free to decide for yourself what kind of fan you are.

lol ok. You keep thinking that way.

I’ll keep thinking it’s dumb.

You do not, in fact, get to dictate who are and are not real fans.

I just don't get it. Why would anyone root for a loss???? Yeah, yeah, higher draft pick, but that's not a guarantee. How can anyone watch their team and hope that they lose????
Sorry, I am normally not someone who roots for losses but this case calls for it, IMO.

We have had such crippling injuries and are not winning anything this year. If we somehow win this division and sneak into the playoffs, we will be trounced first round. We will have a depleted draft value and it will be that much harder to fix our completely useless defense.

Next year, we get our OL and QB back. We get a good young CB back.

I just feel that our offense is fine with some tuning but our defense requires a serious talent infusion. IF we take this short term setback, we will literally give ourselves a chance next year to compete for a title.

Everyone has explained it ad nauseum but once you get past the tired tough guy talk of "there are no meaningless wins" and whatnot and let common sense set in then it's pretty obvious. A higher draft pick that we could trade for more capital is becoming increasingly valuable with the cap situation next year and having to pay Dak. I want to see the young guys who will be here get mass amounts of playing time to show the coaching staff who deserves to be here, continue to fight, and lose. Team tank baby. Considering this team's inability to do well in free agency the draft is the best opportunity for the Cowboys to have success. That meaningless win against a depleted team may have cost us a starter on a cheap rookie contract. Fortunately other bad teams won so we are still slated to pick 4th or 5th.

It still amazes me that there are fans who take the time to find this forum, create an account, and post daily but are so out of touch that they can't grasp how many of us are looking at the big picture/long game in lieu of promoting some macho man, compensating for your micro-dick, tough guy mindset that gets us nowhere. It's why people who use their brain over their big manly muscles are generally more successful at life. It's about being smart and thinking multiple steps ahead.

Interesting. At least you are willing to acknowledge the possibility Jerry Jones might trade a high pick. In my opinion, the larger fan anticipation is for Jones to basically stand pat and pick the 'best available player' in their opinion from the upper first round (and players in subsequent rounds of course). That possibility is something I have brought up occasionally also.

Considering the multiple threads you’ve started complaining about “tanking” it doesn’t seem like it’s fine with you.

that’s the point.

Super edgy man! You're so cool with your one sentence opinions! And apparently too dense to understand that we want to lose to win because with our mentality we will win the war much sooner than we will by winning your meaningless battles. When over half of your entire roster and the majority of your salary cap is on IR and there is no chance of making a playoff run then winning games hurts this team more than it helps. But keep sticking your head in the sand and making the same tired argument over and over.

Did you really say, we want to lose? Don't you find that a bit pathetic?

I'm a big Jeff Cavanaugh fan so I'm all for getting the best possible draft pick and trading down for multiple picks this year and next year. From what I've seen, outside the top 3-4 QBs and Penei Sewell Dallas would be best off picking around 10-13. So if we can take the 4th or 5th pick and trade that to a QB-needy team like Chicago, still pick in the top 10-13 and pick up their second and third rounders then we'd be cooking with fire.

All I find pathetic is your inability and refusal to acknowledge what I'm saying. I want to win a Super Bowl. I believe by losing this season we will win a Super Bowl sooner than by winning this season. So do you not want to win a Super Bowl? Would you rather have meaningless regular season wins and be stuck in eternal mediocrity? Remember the three back to back to back 8-8 seasons? And then remember the 13-3, first seed season in 2016 after a 4-12 2015 record? You really can't be so dumb that you can't comprehend this.

i think some fans want to see a win even if its meaningless, for some personal reason.. maybe a bet or just to say we won today for their own emotional health..i cant think of any other reason they would want our draft picker lower..when the draft actually gets here some will be like damn i wish we were one or two picks higher so we coulda grabbed so and so. Book It!
