McCarthy's decision not to challenge

I’m not saying he’s a good coach or that he did well today, but that one isn’t necessarily on him. Coaches usually rely on a team from the booth to relay to them that they should challenge. Apparently they need someone better up there.

Was saying this same crap in another thread and boneheads refuse to accept this.

It's why BB looked like this last week and called upstairs. This place refuses to understand football, it's like talking to someone on Facebook, but it's less excusable here because many here live and breathe football but refuse to learn it. McCarthy is the next knee-jerk scapegoat.

Brad the Sham trying to let Corky off the hook right now. Common sense by seeing NY rushing to kick the FG, would have ALONE told me to challenge!!!

The coach can also buy more time for his booth by calling a timeout.

This is on him... there was no downside to taking another look, by calling a timeout or throwing the flag.

LOL "don't need dem stinkin' timeouts late in a game!"

Used to be Andy Reid's recipe to losing in important games throughout his career.

That most likely cost this team a win and possibly a playoff appearance because the head coach was too scared to challenge a play that was clearly a close call in game time action.

The fact that he didn't want to risk a timeout in order to prevent the Giants from kicking a field goal clearly and keep it a 1 point game demonstrates Mike McCarthy is a terrible coach.

Seriously how do you not challenge that catch in that situation.

Terrible.
It doesn't matter.

Brady would have carved up this defense for 40+ points easily.

And we would have lots a draft slots

The reality is the staff failed in that spot.

They just did. And for McCarthy to rationalize that it was more important to have 3 TOs and be down 4 as being better than down 1 and 2 timeouts is pretty stupid. Even if the staff upstairs failed, his explanation is beyond stupid.

Idk why he didn’t challenge it ? You’re 6-9.. and probably win this game 22-20 W a FG
Had no problem slingin' the challenge flag against Dez......what happened?

Why do you think this proves anything? Bill was mad because the replay was clear but someone told him to challenge it anyway. In this case the replay clearly showed incomplete, as agreed to by both broadcasters and Pereira. If Bill was on our sideline he'd be chewing someone out for not telling him to throw it. The point is to get the call right. Even if for some reason our coaches can't look up at the Jumbotron, whatever system we have in place to identify when we should challenge is the responsibility of the head coach.

Are you related to Mike or something? Why are you dying on this hill? It's NOT A CATCH, it would have been overturned. This is not debatable.

Too bad he wasn't this tentative in 2014.

You guys really wanted to see THIS team in the playoffs? Why?

Playoff experience makes a difference, even if it's a wildcard game. And on any given Sunday, anything could happen. Also, bragging rights for winning the NFC East. The question is more like, why wouldn't you want them to win the division? The difference in draft pick? Pffttt who cares?

There should be a designated person in the booth telling McCarthy to challenge or not. Whoever that person is should no longer be allowed to have that job.

Green Bay is a real organization that would have never allowed him to screw up in a situation like that. Hell Rodgers himself would have thrown the flag if Big Mike didn't.

This is one of the worse and sads decisions on Cowboys history....You have a chance to win a game, maybe the Division and dont challenge this play.....Direct to the black museum of stupids, in this case, not calls of all time.

He was literally RIGHT in front of it AND STILL went with the booth, you absolute low IQ turd. Stop posting. You're not smart.

Blame the people upstairs, get someone better up there if it is a problem.
who cares if he was "in front" of it, I wouldn't expect him to see it in real time. It was obvious from the FIRST REPLAY on FOX that it was not a catch. But our idiot coach just stood there for 20+ seconds and let them kick the FG. You are WRONG, it was an inexcusable and unforgivable error that cost Dallas a good shot at a division title and a home playoff game.
