I can't help but to believe that acquiring Patrick Peterson is likely to be more costly than the Cowboys would be willing to accept. On top of that, he hasn't played the position. That's no promising road to success. It might be advisable to look elsewhere for better results.

Why do some people think every CB should be converted to safety once they get a little long in the tooth. It rarely works. That's why when it does its such a big deal. There are very few Rod/Charles Woodsons out there.

Patrick Peterson is a man corner with average athleticism at this point in his career. He's actually probably significantly more valuable as a corner in Dan Quinn's D because of his size and press ability.

I think you are wrong on the "it rarely works" angle. More like teams rarely try to move a guy. This used to happen all the time. You hit 30 or so and you would have lost a step.

Frankly, this never happens now because we've come very far in terms of nutrition and training. By the time a top CB is losing that battle, he's 34 and ready to retire.

Really, you only saw guys move positions in an era when they'd be smoking cigarettes in the locker room during halftime.

They are not one player away from a great defense. There is no point in bringing in high priced free agents. Good value in free agency and draft

Considering the roster, the aim should be for the defense to be around 10-20 out of 32 in the next 2-3 years, with the offense being in the top 3.

They need to implement a system, draft for it, and develop the defense.
If they have two or three years to do it, the aim should be a top five defense. Entire teams are being turned around in three years.

Getting serious about Safety is good advice however, I'm not sure about Patrick Peterson being the guy.

I am all for it, I just don't see how. They would have to hit on all their draft picks on defense. The guys they pick in late rounds would have to be top quality at their positions.

I think they can have a top 3-5 offense, but only 3-5 teams are able to do that. If they can bring the defense with them, there will be no complaints from me

Well, if Jerry is going to sign anyone, its going to be someone whose name he knows. I'd be ok putting PP at CB since we currently only have one worth a dam.

Maybe because Sherman hasn't played an entire season for the last 4 years. In March he turns 33 and that's old for a corner. Yes some corners played good at and after age 33 but they also didn't have a 4 straight year injury history either.
.
.

but again the aim wouldn't be to have Sherman here as a CB, but more so as a converted FS in a Quinn scheme he is familiar with during his days
at Legion of Doom in Seattle.

Age and declining CB speed is the reason why he'd come cheap and why he needs to be more of a FS than CB.
But he needs to be a stop gap rental (one year) while we need to have his heir apparent nearby (reggie robinson?)

Sherman is 33 in March, Peterson 31 in July
Both have lost a step but Sherman was a 4.56 guy, Peterson a 4.34 guy
Peterson is also suppose to be a Cowboys fan

Most of the guys in NFL are probably Cowboys fans ..lol
you could probably say Peterson is a better athlete and two years younger while Sherman
is more familiar with Quinn's scheme.

ill takr PP and Boston for postion flex..you have Boston and Wilson to play Safty and PP to play CB/ rotate at S but hes here to help aide in aevent we are short at either...i like this for sure ...

why not both we are cutting and letting go of a lot of DBS this offseason so its focu area..

Diggs, Peterson, drafted cb, and boston and wilson in a lot of nickle stuff correct?? some dime? we can use the vets mixed with the youngster's..

draft a corner, LB, and DT early ...

Tre Boston ? ...man, that's just a journeyman. He's gone from team to team and never seems to stay long term with any NFL stint.
A journeyman is not gonna be a difference maker. Hes just a stop gap band aid.

Whether safety or corner it still doesn't change the fact that he hasn't played an entire season for the last 4 years. Then you want to switch Sherman to FS and then say the Cowboys better have his heir apparent Reggie Robinson ready except Robinson is a corner not a safety. Stick to Madden football.

Are u going by how you view Reggie Robinson as a CB rather than safety, .cuz there's been audio per post draft that Jerry proclaim the team
were looking at Reggie as a safety ...rather than CB.

Now with a new defensive Coordinator and a new DB coach, that may be re-evaluated this time around.

first of fits hypothetical, we need a player or players like Boston, Sherman, and/Or PP as stop gaps to bridge the young guys in yet another new defense and Quinn will need time to find the young replacements to learn his system..

you do realize we are likely cleaning house with most of our DBs from 2020 so plans are needed and bodys like vets will help..

I almost watched it before I saw who posted the video...

It's nothing we haven't read here weeks ago. It's also something that won't happen.

I can't stand this hack.

Signing Peterson would be a dumb move.

Nothing against him or saying he's not a good player, but considering the history Dallas has had recently on free agent signings, as soon as he got on the team he get injured and have to retire....
