The elephant in the room is clearly Dak Prescott. I dont think this team can live with a 4 yr deal, and they shouldnt. If Dak wants security then all he has to do is look at how the Cowboys handled Romo's career. If he cant see that this team takes care of its franchise players, either hes too greedy or too stupid. He picked the wrong agent. Yes he's trying to get top dollar but at what cost? Alienating the team you say you want to finish your career with?

I think they should go out and tell his agent either agree to a long term deal or they franchise him and give the team a list if teams he's willling to play for. To get a sign and trade deal. Allow the agent to go out and shop him aswell. Because this needs to get settled quick. This isnt like Dez Bryant, Dak is in the prime of his career. I think Belichick would jump to sign Dak. And they have defensive players to add in a deal too.

Clearly im a huge Dak fan but im a bigger Cowboys fan, and i will always side with team rather than player.

Next i think this team has to trade Gallup. First, they arent going to be able to resign him with Lamb coming up in a few yrs. Second, he would get you a real nice defensive peice or a good draft pick. Id prefer a player because this defense is already young. They can draft a WR as they've been hitting on them left and right lately.

The OL needs some tweeking IMO i think they found their LT of the future in Brandon Knight. As the yr went on he did really good. But RG is a problem and i think at #10 they can fix this by picking Slater and have him play RT and move Collins to RG. Starting line of Smith | Collins | Biadasz | Martin | Slater would make life alot easier for whoever is playing QB and for Elliot. Then you still got Knight, Collins and McGovern as backups. Really deep OL and back to a real strength.

The DL needs a couple new peices too. Id have no complaints if they stuck with Lawrence and Gregory. But they need 2 new starters inside. I really hope they bring in Tomlinson hes a beast. But I think they can get a really good DT by trading Gallup. I think Quinn was a great hire. Theres some coaches who were just made to be coordinators. Can get a nice run stuffer in the draft too.

Those that want Jaylon gone re going to be disappointed. This team loves what he brings. Yes he has some bad plays but he has alot of good plays too. When he's allowed to play run first and attack he's very good. When he goes bad is when they want him to float and react. His past injury limits him some and thats where the problem is. Think quinn will put him in posistion to succeed.

The more i think about things, id love for this team to resign Lewis and move him to FS. The kid tackles like a LBer and can sniff out the ball for a turnover. More teams are moving to this shorter type of FS who can cover ground. Lewis fits this type of player. Id love to see this.

Dak picked Gordon Gecko as his agent and that shizznice ain't gonna fly unless Jerry truly becomes spineless.
I can't say what will be the end of this particular saga.
I don't know if I want to.

I'll say it won't matter. Folks have been obsessing over the Dak situation for two years now, as if that's the only question to answer for the Cowboys.

This team continues to have multiple issues, Dak or no Dak. Do they have the ability to address them properly? I haven't seen it.

Agree with your take on Dak
Think we need to go defense with our first rounder.

I agree, i have always felt this has really become personal but not just with Jerry, but also Dak's agent. Neither wants to budge from last year and hard feelings all around. Jerry or Dak's agent would have to concede and declare himself a "loser" in this shenanigans. I don't see either of them doing so. Which is a shame because it is going to cost Dak his job in Dallas. But Dak leaving it up to his agent makes me think he is concerned only about the money. I am not knocking him for it, but let's be honest about it.

You mean LG is a problem.

And taking an OL at 10........... why is it we can only build good OLs by throwing high picks at when other teams are finding quality OL in the middle to late rounds of drafts?
I agree with your point but if no trade back and no defensive players worth it then I have no problem with Slater at 10 since he could fill LG day 1 and be the future at LT for years to come.

I see a defensive player available at 10 and wouldn't mind a slight reach to get the guy they want. Example a CB/LB like JOK or one of the top corners. If a QB is there then trade down would be the best to get an extra defender in the 2nd or 3rd round

- Why does this team have to trade Gallup ? Why not work with this luxury of WRs that will be splendid if something tragic becomes of Lamb
or Cooper ? If he leaves per FA, we'd still get a comfortable picks likely with a 4th rounder at the least the year after.

- Brandon Knight is our LT of the future ?...pleeez,.that's so delusional.
Knight is a natural guard clearly playing outta position as an emergency OT reserve. It's a plus luxury that he can be decent enuff to
fill in a pinch. But you really don't want him starting for a extended period. He's technically efficient but his lack of athleticism and
top notch strength gets him expose.

How many years did the viqueens make their 3 wide receivers work? It was carter reed and Moss. Right now I would trade Elliott’s salary next year to keep Gallup on a hopeful 3 year extension. That puts us how many years in your Amari contract? That’s the year I decide if amari or Gallup is worth keeping any longer all while hoping I get to pay lamb top dollar. I make all this happen by restructuring Dak and setting Zeke out to pasture after this year

Except LG was the only "not a problem" on the oline last year. Everyone else missed a ton of time or just weren't that good. Williams had a good year with disaster all around him.

McGovern was pretty good, but faded. We got plenty of problems, but LG ain't one of them. Both Williamd and McGovern played better than Biadasz.

Knight wasn't that good this year and he'll never be a starting quality LT. I'll live within as our backup swing T, but most would be outraged if we don't upgrade.

Whether it’s trading Dak for a more affordable veteran or replacing Dak w/a rookie, it all effectively achieves the same thing, it downgrades the Cowboys most important position.

I agree. But I don't think Dallas can put Zeke out to pasture just yet. In the 5th league day of 2021 Zeke's dead cap for 2022 spikes to around 23 million. That's how his contract is written. However, they can trade him to avoid this. I just don't see any team taking on his contract. Not even for a 7th rounder. Dallas can safely release him after 2022.

The elephant in the room is used to describe something that nobody is talking about. Dak's contract is not an elephant in the room.

The 2021 offseason got off to an astonishing start with three starting QBs traded. The first session that involves all teams begins tomorrow, when the two-week franchise and transition tag period starts -February 23 to March 9. Will the Cowboys immediately make that move?

on Dak, i agree Jerry needs to stay at where he is and let dak move to the team friendly offer or NEFT and seek trades..no good trades keep him one last season

ON OL

NO dont agree you do NOT take an offensive player at 10..3 good corners will most likely be one to choose from and/or LB etc we need defensive help asp

why no OL

you said it yourself Knight can be solid and no not at LT of the future, Collins kicks out to LT and BK takes the easier RT position..done OL is already set regardless of the kneejerk over 2020s injurys debacle..TS will attempt one final year..collins will heal and be fine rededicated and he is the LT of the future, he natural southpaw and will transition and most likely be even better at LT then RT..

No to trading Gallup he and lamb are the future so you keep the 3 together one last season and then trade coop if you can..hes movable after 2021 as might be zeke and others.

2021 need to be push like the window is cracked open and try in FA and the draft to make this the year to make the risky moves as 2022 we could be without dak, Zeke, JS, coop, and others etc ie time to reboot and rebuild..

MM did not come here to rebuild , the injurys derailed season 1 for his staff , they brought in Quinn also not rebuild coach , the time is now..

I hope jerry and Stephen see that 2022 could be hard transition and this is the time to take risks given cap is low vets will be released and possibly come in on lower then average deals..
