Lol it was so obvious last year the Jones’s needed to use leverage in this situation but of course they were gentlemen in the negotiations and Dak’s agent took them for fools.

The Jones’s have gotten played if they do a deal at this point and we are a worse team for it.

Sign and trade is our only hope.

Doing the deal at this point just makes us a non Super Bowl contender for even longer.

You have no idea how these negotiations actually work. They did exercise their leverage by franchising him and not agreeing to just any deal. That is all the leverage they have.

Surrendering civility to be a jerk is not leverage.

They could've used other QB's as leverage.. They could've had serious negotiations with Brady.

They also could've used the tag that allowed other teams to negotiate with him.

Instead they just franchised him.

Been saying this for months.......Jerry and Stephen are facing TWO deadlines to the long-term deal completed before ALL their leverage disappears, March 9 and draft day. After the draft, they'll have zero leverage, none.

yep.only 2 options for our FO.either sign him long term or sign and trade.nothing will be accomplished by letting him play on the tag and watch him sign a mega deal somewhere else.

You don't make any damn sense..you bash the Jones for not signing Dak last year, when in reality, even if they did sign him you would have hated it..now they're idiots if they sign him? Make up your damn mind

No the time to sign him was when Goff and Wentz signed.

After 2019 he has gotten overhyped because of inflated numbers against awful teams and somehow that makes him worth 37-40+ million.

So yes I would've been upset had we signed him last offseason.

My problem in these negotiations is Dallas is competing against themselves when there is a tag that allows other teams to make offers. I'd love to see what the market says he is worth and if someone is stupid enough to give us picks and allow us to avoid this awful contract I would jump at the opportunity.

Well that door isn't shut just yet..while I don't think it's likely, it's still possible..and the market for Dak is going to be far greater than you realize, if the team opens that door.

LOL. I love when fans pretend their fan boy players have all the leverage.

No other team can offer Prescott what he has here. The biggest stage in the NFL with a fake front office delusionally devoted to him.

No, there is not. But they can trade him.
Yes....but only if they sign him first

But I do think Tannebaum is greatly exaggerating this leverage thing.

They did bring in a veteran QB.
Letting other teams negotiate only drives up the price.

The only "leverage" they've ever really had, besides the franchise tag, is this misperception that the Cowboys are some dream destination for every NFL player. Jerry and Stephen still think every football player wants to be a Dallas Cowboy when they couldn't be further from the truth.

There is absolutely no way this works out well/good for the Cowboys. To keep him, they'll have to pay him a king's ransom and they'll never get remotely his value in a trade since he'll be on a franchise tag. Honestly, it's lose/lose unless you think Dak is truly an elite QB that can overcome a lack of depth and talent.

Good! They have to give us picks! The ultimate win for us.

That is our way out of this mess.

Exactly! A smart post.

You either think Dak is an elite player which I LOL at or you just don't care cause you're a fan of his and you don't think the cap matters at all and sadly there is people out there still like that.

Meanwhile Goff, Wentz, Russell, and Watson's teams are all trying to figure out what they are going to do going forward and realizing that they can't build squat around these guys they paid like this.

Goff and Wentz are gone and Russell and Watson are crying about not having enough around them.
