I'm still in a little bit of shock because it's such a horrific long term contract for the team. I know Jerry likes his guys but this is off the scale.

Dak fans will be happy that they get to watch him play well in a loaded offense but it's a long sad time for genuine Dallas Cowboy fans who wanted to see the team compete beyond their division.

Don’t worry about it. Eventually this too will pass

This is a hard question for me. My gut reaction is yes, but it's more of a relief that the contract situation is concluded and we know for sure now. I had 3 scenarios in my mind. One is we tag him and then dance until July and then don't get anything done and he plays on the tag then leaves next year. Second was a tag and trade for 2 #1's. Third was sign him to a contract. My ranking from best case to worst would have been Scenario 3, scenario 2 and scenario 1.

So yes I'm happy he signed and will not leave after this season and we get nothing. and I'm happy it's over.

Yes. It is what it is and was necessary. No other solution that was better. No one but the Chiefs get the ideal scenario.

Time to make it work as best the team can. No reason to whine about it. If it doesn't work out, well, actually look at the contract.

I really don't care if they signed him or not because this franchise is going nowhere with or without Dak.

I've simply learned to watch and accept mediocrity rather than actually hope we win something significant. I've replaced hope with other hobbies.

I'm pumped for this season. Who the 8 teams we beat and the 8 we lose to keeps me on the edge of my seat.

Ask me in 4 years time. It pretty simple really, if Dak leads the team in that time frame to a SB I will be absolute over the moon for the team and mostly for fans of this team who have endured 25 years of nothing.
If he doesnt it will be looked upon rightly as an opportunity missed and fans will be right to question its overall worth.
In the meantime let's cheer for the team and pray it's the former. I'm not getting any younger and the idea of 30 years without even a Conference appearance is depressing.
The good news is that the NFC is going to vo through a major change in the next 4 years. Brady surely wont be there, Rogers will be gone or on the downward slope, Brees has gone. Unless something radical happens the East is winnable.
Draft well and there is hope, it really is a short window for the Boys and it starts now, no excuses.

Yes I think so. Our situation would probably have been more precarious if we had lost him.
I didn't like the size of the deal, but the plus side of that is Jerry worked some cap trickery to make it more palatable. That helps.
If they get us some defensive talent, we just might make it to the playoffs. We've got the 10th overall pick in the draft, so there's hope.

As far as Dak's contract signing is concerned, my feelings are as mixed as a tossed salad and I lean to waiting for results!

In other words . . . I'm stuck somewhere between yes and no! How this thing pans out could have much to do with my approval.

Agreed. I hope Dak proves to be worthy of that huge paycheck, and I hope the Cowboys give him a decent defense to make it possible.

He is 43-27 as a starter

Yes, lets pretend 2016 is still relevant. Subtract his rookie year when he just drove Romo's bus and he's 30-24........ 9-11 in his last 20 games.

There is no rationale argument that Dak earned this contract. It was given to him based on the potential Jerry Jones sees in him. He now has to live up to it and he hasn't come close yet.

Happy that we resigned him? Yes. Dak is a good QB and gotten better each year.

Happy with the team-crushing contract? Hells to the no. Same as Zeke, no player at that position is worth that contract. Maybe I'm overreacting to the sheer size of the numbers. We'll see in a year or two if we have to start cutting really talented guys due to cap space.

I have my doubts he'll be ready to start the season but he's a good qb. I don't want them to rush him back if he's not ready. They paid way too much money to risk it. They won't lose anything by not rushing him back.

Yes. QB was never the issue. It wasn’t the issue when Romo was here either. We have a stud QB with Dak. Everything else needs to fall in place. Like our D.

We are good for 3 seasons.

Dak could be gone after 2024.

he has a no tag/no trade clause.

He should be cleared for football in July.
