To be fair Cooper's nightmare next year is the same as this years nightmare (His base is $20 million each season with $2 million bonus), its just this year's base is guaranteed making it prohibitive to cut him. That said his cap hit for 2021 through 2024 is the same each year ($22 million).

And while I agree with you on Lawrence his cap hit goes up steadily from $25 million this year to $27 in 2022, and $29 in 2023 without a restructure.

this is what has me worried about Coops future with us after 2021.

It’s 60 million $$$ in base over 2022-2024.

I may bet my paycheck that Amari is willing to restructure ASAP to pickup FAs.

Also this notion that Gallup or CD sheep can take over #1 spot are sadly mistaken. They should be grateful that Amari allows them to eat on weaker foes kind of like the side villains of mega bosses.

Neither one has or ever will have the speed, quickness, route running ability & hands of Coop to play a real #1 WR.

Kosher, table? I don't want table but I can use kosher...

Any player would
It’s more cash in their pocket
I would not restructure Cooper or Zeke

Everyone except Dak. Throw Zeke in too. You will never see either of them restructure for a team friendly deal.
Zeke would in a heartbeat
It’s team friendly today but not long term
Why would any player not take more cash in his pocket now
Players don’t turn down restructures because they know it’s really a huge benefit to them and a short term help to the team which you pay for later

Why restructure a deal that we can get out of next offseason?

Cause the Dallas Cowboys would be plain stupid if they wanted to get out of the Cooper contract. The reason this offense works week in and week out is because no team in the NFL can cover all our weapons. If you shut down Coop, we always have Lamb and Gallup. The success of our offense and Dak depends heavily on the 3 headed monster at WR.

Never going to happen. If there is a contract they wont be restructuring and trying to get out of is Zeke and Jaylon's depending how this coming season unfolds. But definitely not Coop.

The smart strategy by the Cowboys would be to hold off restructuring Amari's contract until next season when they see how Amari's season goes and what plays out with Gallup.

If Amari and Gallup both have solid or better seasons, you restructure Amari's contract next season and use that and other restructured contracts to sign Gallup to an extension.

If Amari has an average or worse season or gets injured, you trade/release Amari and sign Gallup to an extension.

If Amari has a solid or better season and Gallup has an average or worse season or gets injured, you let Gallup leave as a free agent.
Exactly! Anything can happen, but we are not really thinking SB run this year. We restructured enough to do what we need in FA this year. We need to see how the entire team comes together this year. Will our OTs stay healthy? Will Zeke step it up? Will Dak be what he was? Will the defense be better? Will we need money to go look for a veteran LB, CB, Safety, DE? Will we need the money to redo some of these 1 year contracts if guys come through?

We cannot just restructure everyone in one year, hoping it all works. EvenTB waited for the SB before committing to resign all the guys they gambled on this year.

A restructure will have no affect on Coop, it will likely excelerate his guarantees, but it will also kick a chunk of his salary down road in the form of a signing bonus and kill the Cowboys with a substantial dead money payment at the end of his contract.

Yep, and we are already looking at a goodly amount on the Dak contract and all the rest of the restructure deals we have done to make things happen. I hate that we do this but here we are.

Players have no problem doing it because they don't lose a damn thing.
