He's actual identical on tape to Ifeatu. Great cover three corner, but struggles on slants or anything ran inside. Good against the run, though.

Well I agree gavin didnt make sense, but to be fair gavin couldnt get on the field much because of witten.
Also I think tony didnt like gavin.

Wright makes sense in that he has the size and length speed, that quinn wants, and he thinks he can coach him up into a good corner.
only time will tell.

This is the most glaring pick in our draft, of not the entire draft. Therefore leading me to believe he will be an absolute stud. Lol

Light weight ;)....morning celtic brother.

I suppose they had a draft plan and after the no.10 trade down gave a joker pick to spend. As has been mentioned they must have been high on Wright and there's a chance that they knew another team was equally as high on him.

I voted no as i'm hoping/trusting the FO know better than us fans, especially as fans fixate on names and not projectable talents that could play in the NFL.

Drafting is about picking prospects. You mix BPA w/ Need and several teaspoons of sunshine and whiskey and you make the best decision you can w/ what's available.

Leaving better players on the board is generally not a good way to draft.

Better players according to whom? they draft according to their draft board, they identified a player that they felt was the better player that fit what they wanted? that's what you just said, so what's the problem?

Seahawks & Raiders are running the same scheme so they would likely also have been interested in Nahshon Wright.

Since they got Jabril Cox, its a moot point. If Jabril Cox would have been drafted in the 3rd or 4th by another team beside Dallas, it would be the worst pick in Cowboys 3rd round history.

This logic that if you like a player go grab him when you can is pretty silly because then if you liked him so much, why not grab him in the 2nd? Or the 1st?

Yes, that's silly. And yes the answer is that the kid isn't good enough to be a 1st or 2nd round pick and likely would be there later in the draft. So in that sense, the Cowboys applied draft value to the kid. But for some reason, they panicked at the end of the 3rd and took him there when they likely could have had him in the 4th or even 5th. Was he that vital a player to their success that they had to take him when he did?

Teams that run that scheme would clearly value someone with his traits more than other teams. And although Dane Brugler gave Wright a 7th round grade, Broaddus after the draft gave him a 5th round grade. Cavanaugh gave him a 4th/5th. None liked him at 99. But it shows how people see guys differently and they aren't even grading to fit a scheme like nfl teams do.

I also left out the Chargers as a team that runs the same scheme.

If they are evaluating poorly, they are wasting resources that could be better spent elsewhere. Since this is a common theme for this org, it's easy to think they're still doing it.

No team is batting a thousand. The Cowboys have been one of the best drafting teams since McClay started running things. Nobody knows how Wright will pan out right now.
