PFF - which is the same organization that made this ranking - had Lawrence as a top-5 run defender.

The fact that you use sack production as your only standard for passrushing means you're not really paying attention.

Go ahead and whine about what he makes all he wants - he's an excellent player.

Winner.

Can’t get sacks? No problem. We’ll lower the bar and count pressures.

Horrible run defense? Well, yeah, teams were running away from Lawrence. Sure, yeah. Of course.

Dude is absolutely awesome. What would the team ever do without the hottest member of the Hot Boyz?

Lawrence is actually very good against the run. That right there calls into question your analysis. No, just because the defensive line couldn't stop the run last year doesn't mean that Lawrence was to blame. He was good. The DTs and LBs sucked.

Per PFF based on 2020? That has nothing to do with the current defense. There has just been too large of a turnover for this team to be labeled by what they did a year ago.

what is the major turnover? That you lost Aldon Smith and gained Dan Quinn’s scheme?

They lost Everson Griffen and Dontari Poe during the season last year. Lost Hill to injury last year. Signed Basham and Urban. Drafted a few linemen. Gallimore will be a 2nd year pro. Its going to look a lot different. I don't know if its going to be better but it for sure will look different. Randy Gregory isn't suspended either so he's finally getting a training camp.

If you don’t see the major turnover and new personnel on our team then maybe you should pay more attention to YOUR team. BTW Eagles suck.

OH!

So the Cowboys shouldn't be ranked at all because their defensive line is filled with question marks?

Gotcha.
No one should be ranked right now. Everyone is filled with question marks. Drop the attitude, Winicki!

Im not paying enough attention to the Eagles is the reason I’m not paying enough attention to the Cowboys? What?

Last season's "B" Defensive line that would come in and spell the starting four was among the worst defensive play I have ever seen. They had no chance when that group was on the field.

Since other posters have already answered this ridiculous question, I don't feel the need to do likewise but I'll do it anyway. We have as many as 8 new starters on defense. That is a significant overhaul. Just as a side note...our nickel package will look much different (manninginwise) than it did last year.

"27. DALLAS COWBOYS
Randy Gregory will have an opportunity to finally put it all together as the starting left edge defender in Dan Quinn’s new defense in Dallas. The first six years of his NFL career have featured up-and-down play and extended suspensions, but he was playing the best football of his career down the stretch of 2020, earning an 80.5 overall grade on his 270 defensive snaps. He still needs to show he can play up to that level as a starter over the course of an entire season.

While Dallas' edge group features some promise, the team needs several interior players to take big steps forward. The Cowboys allowed 2.3 rushing yards before contact per attempt in 2020 — a half yard more than any other defense in the NFL." (I bolded this part)

This is per PFF, so some will discount it, but I feel it's pretty spot-on.

The last sentence is telling. A massive embarrassment.
Based on last year only, that's pretty high. But at least they are trying to address it with new players and a new coaching staff.

If the Cowboys were ranked in the top-10 Joe... You'd have been thrilled.
You're wrong. I would have had just as big a issue with that for the same reason. There is nothing tangible to base that ranking on. Maybe integrity means nothing to you but to me, if it can't be incorporated into a ranking then the rankings should be thrown out. We can talk about what's going on with this defense without giving it a ranking. At this point, the rank is meaningless.

Then ignore the thread Joe.

Yeah, sure he is. Can’t get sacks so they say he is good at pressures. When people aren’t buying that, they say he is good against the run. Keep lowering the bar and he’ll always be good at something. Good veteran presence, teaches the youngsters.
