Exactly. My point is that CB's get beat. It's how they respond which matters. Can't just hear about 1 play and say your worried about Diggs. That's just not a fair assumption.
To be fair, if it was only the once, I wouldn't have said a word.

Twice caught my attention.

I also responded that I didn't hace all the info. Now I do. That's almost gotta be a reason to hang around here and ask, no?

Diggs you want to be all pro? learn how to draw offensive PI like Jalen Ramsey. If you can learn to fake out officials like this you will be gold

There was no need for Gallup to be reaching behind him and putting his hand on Ramsey’s pad. None.

I wonder how they're going to handle the wide receiver positions roster-wise, given the uncertain long-term futures of Gallup and Cooper on this team?

For instance, do they keep a guy like Parker - who they can have under contract for several years - vs a guy like Noah Brown or Wilson who will be unrestricted free agents after this season?
Yes.

They seemed to have brought in more UDFA WR than usual.

Could we actually be trying to get ahead of a problem?

I like Brown and especially Wilson, but they are going to probably get deals in the 3-4m per range, and we just can't do that.....I wouldn't think.

If I know Jerry, he will want to find a way to keep the top three.....so that means bare bones at WR4-6 in 2022.

This is just my opinion, but looking at this team's salary cap situation next year, I think it's going to be CeeDee Lamb as the last man standing. I think that both Gallup and Cooper will be gone in 2022.

And based on that belief, I think it's a bg reason why they drafted Fohoku and why they're so interested in signing undrafted free agents and keeping guys like Parker around, they see the same writing on the wall that I do.

Wow both gone? First I've heard anyone say that one.

That'll almost mean someone of those two misses significant time and Fehoko and Wilson prove to be no doubt #2 and 3.

I think a lot of it depends on the defense in an odd way.....If it can't improve they may need to fix that cap dollar allocation that's heavily skewed toward offense.

I think they actually have a couple viable options.

I think they give Lamb every opportunity to show himself as a #1 this season. If he can, I think they let Cooper walk as the way his contract breaks down the team gets a get out jail card after this season. Gallup could likely be resigned for an AAV much less than Cooper’s.

Or, they could let Gallup walk and recoup a 3rd rounder. While Cooper’s contract is still Top 5 at the position, with the new salary cap, there will likely be new receiver FAs that will end up making it look much more reasonable.

Take a look at their projected 2022 cap:

https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/dallas-cowboys/cap/2022/

They're projected to be $21 million over the expected $208 million cap. To me, that means a new contract for Gallup is likely off the table (unless it's very creatively structured based on a huge cap increase). And there are few contracts that they can get out of that offer considerable savings vs dead money.

Two in particular jump out at me - Amari Cooper and Jaylon Smith. Cutting or trading Cooper can save them $16 million, far and away the most. And cutting or trading Smith saves them about $5 million. That puts them near where they need to be with a bit of restructuring of other deals.

That's why I am doubtful about either Gallup or Cooper being here after this season.

I don't see where else they get the money to get under next year's cap.

And that could definitely be the case.

Also consider all the guys we brought in on one year deals.

Either we are going to completely stink, or need to retain a few of them.

Say what you will not was not offensive PI and Gallup never pushed off.
He got called for it because he was reaching back. It gave the ref reason to call it. Ramsey acted a bit but if Gallup had both arms in front of him that’s a catch or DPI at worst.

They're not even lined up right on the field.

What a mess.

What are you talking about? That's the new "go for it on 4th and 10 trick play" that MM is practicing. We're watching genius in action here. :muttley:

I don't see where else they get the money to get under next year's cap.

I believe the cap is supposed to increase in 2022.

"As part of last week’s league meetings, the NFL and the NFL Players Association agreed to set a salary cap ceiling for the 2022 season. According to a report by Tom Pelissero of NFL Network, that ceiling will be implemented at $208.2 million per team.

While no floor has been agreed to as of right now, the belief is that the cap will increase again after dropping by $15.7 million between the 2020 and 2021 seasons due to the Coronavirus pandemic."

Also, almost every bigtime contract has clauses in it whereby the team has the option to restructure to allow for cap maneuvering. Jaylon will also likely be off the books.
