I love this kids confidence in himself and his ability and thus far in OTA and mini camp is walking the walk after talking the talk.

The rumor was this was a guy Quinn wanted. Would be a nice change of pace if our DC kind of reached for a guy and it actually worked as opposed to the previous DC who reached for guys and they rarely worked out.

If Wright can develop, his size could be a huge advantage at CB.

I predict Risen will ask for a Wright jersey for Christmas.
Bingo and our track record of the last few years when allowing a DC to do that has been horrible. I was as surprised as anyone else with the pick, but I wasn't thinking it was a bad move until I heard that it was pretty much all Quinn to take him there. Time will tell. My worry is that at 6'4" 183 he'll need to add some weight to his frame to play at this level and can he add the weight and not lose speed/quickness. Very excited to watch him in the preseason.

The biggest problem with fans valuing picks is all of these mocks out there. They all copy off of each other and all of the fans are brainwashed into thinking they mean anything at all. If one guy had moved him to the 3rd round they all would have moved him up a couple of rounds. NFL teams have their own boards and people who think the media mocks are close to NFL team boards don't watch the draft. If it came out that McClay loved Wright I would have never doubted the pick. The funniest thing is when people get upset when a team drafts one 7th round Guard they've never really watched play over another because a writer wrote something they liked about the other guy

Man I get so geeked for preseason...I know some people hate it but I really enjoy watching these young guys who we otherwise wouldn't even see.

And yeah the Cowboys put a lot of stock in their draft process. I thought Wright unfairly got criticized because of the "We had him as a 7th round pick" people did...even thought what Sherman did was disrespectul. I hope he proves all of them wrong.

After missing all of last PS with a new coaching staff to boot this PS is going to be awesome. Another new DC and so many new players on that side.

scouting source, and asked him his thoughts on the rising star?

“Nahshon has that skill set you look for. At first, you notice his height and his long stride. Then you really dig into his tape and you realize he has a lot to him. Quick twitch, and smooth with his hips. I like that you can put him on a wideout, and forget about him. In the best way possible I mean that. I like that he was a receiver, you can see it in his style of play. He runs routes for some guys, he always seems to be in the right place. You can’t teach instinct and it seems like he has that. Fun guy, plenty of swaggers, and an attitude you like on your guys. I was watching him in week one this year against Washington, he was called for a pass interference right off the bat. It was a bad call, but he didn’t complain or go into a shell. he battled back, had a short memory, and did his job. He can be a success in the NFL, he needs some work, they all do, but he has the potential you like.”

Bro, what did Sherman do? I've been away from all of the latest news.
I'm probably being a little emotional over it...he really didn't say nothing outlandish...but Wright said:

“I kind of look at myself as kind of like a more athletic and agile Richard Sherman. Yeah, that scheme just fits perfect.”

I think Ryan Clark was more egregious in what he said and i'm probably confusing what he said with what Sherman said.....

But seems like him and Sherman squashed it so I can stop being mad at Sherman lol.

“We kind of have a mutual respect,” said Wright, who played at Oregon State. “For me, I think it was just genuine confidence in myself and looking up to someone like that. He played under [Cowboys defensive coordinator] Dan Quinn. So now I have the opportunity to play under him and hopefully do the same things that Richard Sherman did. So we spoke, and we have a mutual respect. And he told me if I ever needed help I can reach [out] to him.

I honestly believe getting some confidence early or the lack thereof determines a lot of guys careers. Seen so many players who had the physical talent but never got over the hump of truly believing in themselves at that level of competition. Once you get some confidence that a mistake isn't the end of the world the mind relaxes, and you can play without overthinking.

Well as we have seen thus far Wright has compared himself to Richard Sherman and fully believes he is the best CB in the draft. No doubt he will lose some battles after all the rules favor offense and WR more so than defense and CB but how he responds after a negative play will tell a lot about him as a player

Wright has incredible ball instincts and is fearless in run game even with his lanky frame.

I was so wrong about this kid, looking forward to eating that crow.

Those people trying to knock down this news isn't happy because it appears that he's doing against Dak. If the news was that he was doing this against Gilbert then they would be much more happy about it.

Ironic, Wright around a week ago jumped the route of Osirus Mitchell thereby intercepting the pass from Garrett Gilbert.

Who the heck is Tyler Cole? Is that the creature from The Mothman? No wait, that's Ingrid Cole or something.
Its early I get it, but I see Coyle with a very good chance of sticking around

Yeah, I cant remember the quote, but Richard Sherman ended up being real cool about it. Like I said then, Sherman has nothing to prove anymore and his response showed that. He could've broke the young man down, but he was a good enough dude to try and help build him up, after a little humbling that is.

Yeah I realized that my frustration wasn't really with Sherman it was the people like Ryan Clark and Skip Bayless coming to his defense and attacking Wright knowing he didn't mean It the way it came across.

Pffftt...
Cooper, who hasn't practiced, broke Wright's ankles several times and we all know it.

KaBam!
Peace out B's.
That's okay - Dak knows a doctor who can fix that.

Nashon is Quinns guy, he has looked good so far, it's really just that simple..

Though, rumor has it, he's a more athletic Richard Sherman :muttley:

Probably him more than anyone, Im really looking forward to seeing in preseason.

No one seemed to have him that high, but the Cowboys didn't say to themselves "Lets take this 7th round prospect in the 3rd round". They had a different value on him than anyone we know of

Those really ugly agility numbers make me think this is mostly OTA hype.

If there's one thing we should all know by now, it's that camp reporters don't know what they're looking at and/or only go on a couple of flashy plays that might be against terrible QBs or WRs.

I can't wait for TC and the preseason games to begin to see which players are for real and which ones are recipients of false hype. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy hearing about guys like Nahshon Wright and others doing well in OTAs and mini camp but the real tests come later. I can't wait for TC and the preseason games to commence to get a true picture of what's what and who's who. Excelling under pressure in games is the only true gauge to see who is the real deal and who isn't. Here's hoping most of our so-called "heroes" pan out to be the real deal in reality and actuality. ;)

Draft media rankings this year are going to prove to be wrong by a bigger margin than normal with regards to players matching up to the media rankings over their rookie contract.
