Does anyone think Trevor Lawrence is over hyped?

I'm aware of that, and I was at that Bears game. That said, I do like what I've seen from Parsons and our drafted rookies.

I like Parsons too. But he's one player. How much of our first team have we seen? You can't keep everyone on the sidelines the entire preseason and expect them to be full speed week 1. That's how injuries happen. We did that in 2020 didn't we? In 2019 too if I remember correctly. I wasn't impressed with our OL. The answer, play them even less. Ok. I'm not expecting much.

There was very limited camp/practice in 2020, this year we had a full camp, so 2020 and 2021 aren't that comparable...

It's way early but Mac Jones and Zack Wilson have been impressive. Hell, even Myers admitted a couple of weeks ago Lawrence has a long way to go but that's expected from a rookie.

If he stays upright (major task) and can live with Meyer growing pains in the NFL
he might end up being pretty good.

But he's at bat in the 1st inning with 2 strikes.

NFL quarterbacks in 2021. Here's who played and how they did in Week 2

Ten quarterbacks were taken in the 2021 NFL Draft.

Five were first rounders.

Four of those five first rounders saw action in Week 2 Sunday, while third rounder Davis Mills made his NFL debut for the Houston Texans.

The five rookies who played threw a combined eight interceptions.

Here's a look at the 10 rookie QBs and how the ones who played fared.

https://www.jacksonville.com/story/...-2-2021-season-heres-how-they-did/8416923002/

In other words, 2021's rookie QBs have STUNK so far.

Big difference playing in regular season compared to the preseason.

Of course he was overhyped, he was the #1 overall draft pick. It goes with the territory. That doesn't mean he's not a good QB, it just means the team that was afforded the draft capital to acquire him doesn't have much else. They should be able to fix that in the next few years and be a contender.

I have more concerns with the mesh of head coach and OC in Jacksonville than the QB.
They seem unbelievably confused about how they want to run their offense.
The OC is a bit traditional and Meyer historically has spread things out.
Plus, most great colleges coaches do not make the NFL transition well, though there are exceptions.

It has to be confusing.
Plus their line is awful.

Lawrence is gonna have a fairly rough year, imo.

Lawrence looks like a young Peyton Manning who threw 28 INTs his rookie year. Urban Myer is still figuring it. I recall Jimmy Johnson and Troy Aikman went 1-15 in their rookie seasons.

So far urban Meyer appears to be joining the very long list of top college coaches that are lost in the NFL.

Now obviously after only two games its not a sure thing but all the stories of staff problems and confusion and such makes things look bad.

As regards Lawrence I never thought he was a near god as too many did.

Give the kid time.

He is going to be destroyed by a crap organization with a HC in over his head.

I think Urban has one thing going for him......he hates losing. I've never seen an Urban Myer team down for long. He reminds me a lot of Jimmy Johnson. He just doesn't have Hershel Walker in his back pocket to trade for a new team. He inherited an organization in chaos and its going to take time to re-make that team.

Dude, are you just a freak?

Look, stop. Do you remember when people were saying Wentz was the real deal? This was just after a few games. Long before his injury. Now they keep their beaks shut and comment on other players that haven't proven themselves.

This is too much for an NFL newbie to overcome.

Well, my frame of reference is the 1989 Cowboys. Jerry fires the whole front office and he's coming in knowing nothing about running a football team. Everyone is new and inexperienced. Thats kinda where Jacksonville is right now.

The league is not even close to what it was 3 decades ago. Much more complex, many more distractions, and a salary cap.

There is so much more going on in a professional team versus a college team. So much more to keep track of and be responsible for. Its one reason why so many top college coaches fail in the pros. There is no proof UM is going to fare any better than Saban and others who failed.
