This is bad, but it looks worse than it is. They are playing the read option - 93 owns the RB, Jaylon owns the QB. They are supposed to follow their player so that there isn't a "right answer." But the action from the TE was un-expected, so much so that I'm not sure this was ever an actual option play. I think it was designed to look like one so that Jaylon would stay on Hurts while the TE cleaned up the DE. It worked.

Now, you would like your LB to more quickly figure that out and move to the ball, and Jaylon has enough of this cheese- eating clips that he doesn't get the benefit of the doubt. But I think this was actually one well designed play from Philadelpiha as much as a whif. I actually think Jaylon was doing his job and the Cowboys got caught.

You are correct..BUT, Jaylon has inside out on the play and trys to cheat, the DE contained, #55 crashed the lead and Jaylon should have absolutley had the hole....he cheated outside. The play developed like the Cowboys wanted everyone kept Jaylon and the DE clean..Jaylon missed the hole. AgainI dont know why but he has regressed...

Yeah - apologies if I was trying to make that sound super defensive. Jaylon guessed wrong and at his level and pay, he needs to not just be a one-read guy. He over-reacted/reacted wrong when he saw the TE coming over - he assumed it was an outside play and tried to get a jump. Had he been right he would have been in great shape (he was playing either the bootleg or TE coverage), but he was not only wrong, he was so wrong it took him out of position.

From your star, highly paid MLB, you want more than this. I'm just saying that it was more than just gap control - Jaylon thinks he sees more than he does and it becomes costly.

7 yards deep means you suck. Those are where most of those tackles were.

How many TFL?

If the defensive play didn't call for him to be in position to get a TFL, they weren't possible. Talk to Nolan about that.

'7 yards deep means you suck' = You don't understand the position.

LOL..........so the coordinator is not telling Jaylon to play passive and Not make plays? Thats a funny one. He just doesnt have the heart or stones to go up in there. He knows his limitations and just tries to coral the players into not getting a huge play.

You're clowning yourself with your lack of knowledge. I'm embarrassed for you.

Dude is one of the league leaders in tackles and you think he doesn't have 'heart or stones'? There is NO WAY you've ever played a down of football before. Ever.

Everybody knows he sucks. Even the coaches know he sucks, thats why he got only 16 snaps the first game before all our DE's went down.

Its not the number of tackles its where you make them. LOL

The MLBer on most teams typically leads them in tackles.

If you think Jaylon is a good linebacker then you simply dont know linebacking and you dont know football. :flagwave::flagwave:

I’m sure I’ll be in the minority but I don’t think Jaylon has played bad this season. He hasn’t been great but he hasn’t been terrible. He’s part of why we’ve gotten better on defense. Everyone from last season has shown some improvement on defense. No one has improved more than Diggs. He was downright awful after the first three games last season but this season he’s been talked about as one of the top corners in the league after three games. I believe he leads the entire league in INT’s and pass defenses. The new players we’ve added to the defense has improved us. Our overall defensive ranking isn’t very good at number 26 but that’s because we give up a lot of 25+ yard plays that add up to a lot yards. We continue to bend and eventually we’ll break. The chunk plays will kill us in the playoffs if we get that far. QBs like Brady and Aaron Rodgers will eat us up. The main reason I believe McCarthy didn’t use a timeout or two to try and save some time at the end of the half was because he was fearful Philly might hit us for a big gainer on third and long. We can’t keep giving up chunk plays or they’ll come back to bite us when our season is on the line.

I've been watching him in slow mo and this guy is definitely trying his best to avoid contact with players bigger than him (OL, TE). He makes business decision that makes Deion look like
Roy Williams the safety.

He says he ran more than anyone in the last game. I believe him because that's all he does. He just runs around avoiding contact He will run and chase someone smaller than him (RB, QB, WR) and join the gang tackle after someone else already made the initial tackle.

People are saying he is playing better because you see him chasing people down. That's only part of what a LB is supposed to do. He has to at times take on a block to fill his gap. He can't act like a matador when a linemen is charging at him. Because a RB is coming through right behind that linemen for a big gain. Sander got like 26 yards on a play just like this.

A good OC will expose Jaylon soon enough, just a little play action or run directly at him....

He is just a jag let's face it.

20-25 other teams would have him on the field in situational downs and would probably cut him with every new drafts churning the rotation.

Fact is he got a new contract a few years back, it is what it is,
it could of been a steal for Jarah!
It Didnt work that way. .. oh well. J Smith got the best deal for himself ( wouldnt we all do the same ??) he sucks !! Totally awful!
Only thing I can think of is that the dude really tries. That is worth alot. Not worth the money, jarah got robbed we all agree....

At least this idiot who runs around thinking he's some leader of this defense is actually trying.
That in itself gives a good vibe to the rest of the D.

I will give him credit for that, and that is really a huge huge asset ! He gives 100%

he sucks yes ! He is a self horn blowing *****.

But it could be much worse .. we tried, good risk reward ratio. Time to move on when it is beneficial to the team. Done.

4 of top 5 tacklers in 2020 were not MLBers.

So no, that's not true.
