The thing about Diggs

I posted a few times about this in last week’s game thread. I didn’t like what I saw from Diggs in terms of his effort playing defense outside of coverage.

I can already anticipate the responses “I don’t need my CB tackling….as long as he’s getting turnovers…”

That’s the thing…the turnovers mask his deficiencies. His game against KC was probably one of his most egregious where I saw plainly attaching himself to blockers as the play went by him; this was a favorite technique of Mo Claiborne when he was here. Not every play is a pass play. If you have a defender that doesn’t like the physical aspects of the game it’s like you’re playing defense with 10 guys.

Hopefully it gets corrected because we’ve seen him do better but I know others are starting to notice this about his game.

I'm not pouring over game film but I have noticed that a few times from him watching the games live. Not quite as bad as this play, but a lack of effort in run support. What's confounding about this is Diggs has shown the ability to be strong in run support.

I saw this on the replay and was disgusted with the effort. I don't recall him lofing like this before, in college or the league. Al Harris has to coach him to be better than that...DQ too.

Diggs gave more effort trying to gather teammates to run to the endzone for pictures after Parsons strip sack...kinda Jaylon esque.

I wanted Diggs drafted by the Boys and everything, but my guy gotta do better.

What's important is that his turnovers actually get us more points than his shortcomings cost us. Not always easily definable, but this is the bottom line.

19 points vs KC just means that the D did its job on all cylinders. So I'm not complaining as long as QBs don't find a way past him too often. Plus it's not always the visible work. If QBs don't wanna throw in his direction he limits their options by just being on the field.

I don't need a CB stopping the run game too. Would be nice, but ain't a show stopper either.

Umm looks like he has the TE in Man...he bolts outside and they throw it...you guys would be asking why Diggs let him go..I mean I know Kelce is a scrub TE and all but you dont release him in man.... lol after watching it again woo boy our safties both got screwed neither contained one literally passes Kelce off to him and does not contain....

Yea, he isn't Marlon Humphrey.

It's known his weakness is consistent run defense effort/physicality.

But he's a playmaker this year in coverage with ints. Some blown plays but that's the risk of am aggressive corner

Diggs thinks he’s Deion and he’s not even close

He’s a good coverage CB but that’s not enough

He needs to be more disciplined and be more physical and that’s on the DC and HC

We allowed 19 points..

Digg is what he is. This is what everyone wanted and I’m fine with it.

If you want corners like you describe then you should’ve kept Byron.

If you want cover guys who are a little soft then Diggs is your man.
I don't think he's soft I just think he's making "businesses decisions"...either way I think Brown and Lewis are the opposite in that regard. But you take what you get with Diggs....if you are going to give my unit 8 interceptions then I really don't give a damn what you do honestly.

That doesn't look like a business decision issue but more of a bad play issue.
