I know a lot of you guys really love Randy but his selfish behavior really cost the team. Three bad penalties. He was pretty much a no show and as usual he got abused in the run game. I really hope we can move on from this guy. Easily my least favorite player left on the team.

Erased by the future HOFer, a one armed Trent Williams.

He hasn’t been the same since he went out for Covid. He and Dak have a lot in common

Gregory turns 30 next season. He had a nice season this year with 6 sacks but I have a feeling another team is going to over-pay him and given his propensity for penalties I'm not in favor of the Cowboys really being very aggressive about re-signing him.

One dimensional player. Cowboys will probably redo Dak, Smith and Zeke's contracts to sign a other flash player to a big contract.

the question you must ask is how many of these defensive players are playing lights out for Dan Quinn? He'll likely be gone, then what?

If they bring Gregory back it has to be as a situational pass rusher, not an everydown DE.

He is below average against the run -- I'm not sure with his body type he'll ever be particularly good vs the run.

i like him but its time to stop over paying guys who come up short in the biggest games.
now...if he doesn't draw the interest he'd hoped for...and we can get a good deal...then yes.
but im not looking to set a record to keep him.

If he is below average against the run, what does that make Basham and Armstrong?

Seriously Gregory get abused against the run. I tried to point out a while back his crazy low tackle numbers. I was pretty much told stopping the run what not part of his job requirement. Can you imagine what a joy that would be to hear if you are a Niners fan. Basham and Armstrong are average but they are JAGs who provide depth. They are not going to be in the conversation for a long term deal and as such have nothing to do with this conversation.

This would be a nightmare.
Jerry already got bent over on that 1 sided contract he gave Dak.
He needs to ride this storm out until we can jump ship and start over.
Zeke needs to go now !
When has throwing money at a problem ever made it go away?

I said he would give us around the same production as Aldon Smith did.

I was right.

Ya'll gonna have to start listening to me. I don't sugar coat things to make ya'll feel better. It's tough love.

Seemed going into the season many felt Gregory could be an every down player with all the suspensions behind him. I was always skeptical - he's not built to take blockers head on and be strong against the run, and despite an occasional flash, he had never really shown the kind of pass rushing that would be so great we could live with him as an every down player despite deficiencies against the run. I wasn't opposed to bringing him back after the suspensions, but I always felt his best usage would be as a situational pass rusher.
